Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s multiplayer isn’t significantly different from previous installments, but minor changes to the user interface and added features may confuse newcomers when inviting friends or setting up private matches.
Here’s a complete guide to the essential social features ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, including instructions for inviting friends, creating two-player squads, setting up private matches, and more.
How to Add Friends
To quickly find your current friends, check the Network tab, which shows a list of all your friends from the same platform.
If you want to befriend a random player on a server, open the match scoreboard, hover over their name, press the square button (X on Xbox) to view their profile details and select “Send Friend Request.”
The “Recent” tab in the Social section also stores the names of your teammates from recent matches, allowing you to send them friend requests as well (just press the square button or X on Xbox over their name).
You can create a group and have all your friends join it by searching the group’s name so you can send friend requests to each other without searching for IDs.
How to See Activision ID
Go to the options menu and select Account & Network. Open the Activision Account tab and press the square button (X on Xbox) to “Show Details.” This displays your complete ID, including the additional tag needed for a thorough search. Your friend must enter this complete ID, which looks like “UserName#1234,” in the search bar to find and invite you.
How to Play with Only One Friend
In the Multiplayer orZombies lobby, you can turn off auto squad-fill to limit the team to one friend. For this, press the R3 button in the lobby (RS on Xbox), select the cog icon next to the friend invite tab, and change the party setting to “Closed.”
How to Block or Report Someone
Hover over the player’s name in the match scoreboard or the “Recent” tab of the Social menu. Press the square button (X on Xbox) to view their profile details, then select “Block Player” or “Report Player” as needed.
Blocking or reporting players will prevent them fromjoining your lobby in future matches. You can unban players at any time by going to the List of Banned Players in the Social menu.
How to Create Private Matches
The Private Match option is located under Training Mode in the Multiplayer lobby. After selecting this mode, you may invite friends by clicking the plus icon under your display name in the top right corner.
Private matches allow you to customize all gameplay settings and even add bots instead of real players to practice your skills and familiarize yourself with the maps.
How to Add Bots to a Private Lobby
In the Private Match menu, use the “Add Bot” option instead of selecting “Invite Friends.” Access this feature by clicking the plus icon under your display name in the top right corner of the screen. You can choose how many bots join the match and adjust their intelligence by changing the AI difficulty level.
How to Join a Private Match
A private match host has a unique code that allows you to enter their server. This code is displayed on the game mode card in the lobby, next to the game settings. To join, enter this code in the “Join Private Match” section of the Private Match menu in the multiplayer lobby.
