A lot of decisions made early inTitanQuest 2are final. While some things, such as the way your character looks, don’t have as much of an effect, other decisions, such as the difficulty andMasteries of your character, are set in stone.
When you first make your character, you’re presented with three difficulty options, though these won’t exactly determine the difficulty of individual enemies in-game and how hard they are to kill. There is another system that can make the moment-to-moment fights more difficult, all while rewarding you for taking on more of a challenge. Here’s all the difficulty options, how to change them, and how it all works together inTitan Quest 2.
Character Creation Difficulty Levels Explained in Titan Quest 2
When creating your character, you’re given three difficulty options that will determine some overall gameplay elements about your character:
Effect
Neophyte
Take half damage and regenerate health faster. This is done with an in-game buff that can later be disabled, moving you up to the Normal difficulty.
Normal
No bonus buffs or potential hazards to worry about when playing the game.
Hardcore
Death is permanent, and once this character dies, they are deleted.
Of the choices above,Hardcore can’t be undone, and you can’t move between the difficulties above aside from choosing to lose the Neophyte buff at a Ritual Shrine to move your character to the normal difficulty.
Solo Self-Foundis also determined here, though this only influences potential multiplayer.
How to Change Difficulty (Adjust Enemy Level) in Titan Quest 2
The above difficulties don’t determine the individual stats of enemies, but the Ritual of Ares can be used to make the game as difficult or easy as you’d like. TheShrine can be found in the northern section of the city of Pyrgos, and here you’ll be given three options to alter the difficulty:
Is there Level Scaling in Titan Quest 2
There is no level scaling inTitan Quest 2, and the level of your enemies compared to your own will determine how easy or hard the game is.Upgrading your attributeswill help you take on those higher-level enemies. Raising the levels of all enemies will lead to harder fights, but also reward you with more XP and better loot for that higher level. Altering the level of enemies is reversible, though it will cost a lot of gold too, so change the difficulty of the game at your own risk and cost.
