As astandout title from Rockstar,Red Dead Redemptionblends a compelling narrative with a vast open world. However, the combination of the two puts players in a difficult spot, since they are often tasked with completing missions in the middle of nowhere or in a city miles away. Luckily, the game provides a couple of fast travel options that allow travelers to access certain areas on the map and save time.

Especially a few hours into the campaign after reaching the Mexican territory, common means of transportation become tedious, unless Stagecoach or Improved Campsite are used to skip to locations. Therefore, for those planning to ditch the train and horse riding, this guide explains the fast travel methods inRed Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption Stagecoach preview

While progressing through theRed Dead Redemptioncampaign, players will come across Stagecoaches, which are basically large passenger vehicles drawn by horses. They are an excellent means of transport, and players should be able to use them to fast travel for a small price.

Stagecoaches can be found in most towns or inhabited areas. Just approach the vehicle or whistle to make it stop. Once it halts, hop in the carriage and select a destination from the options in the bottom right corner of the screen. You can also set up a waypoint beforehand and then access it via a Stagecoach. Having placed a marker on the map, go ahead and press “Skip to Destination” to successfully fast travel inRed Dead Redemption.

Red Dead Redemption Improved Campsite preview

LikeArthur Morgan’s camp lodgings featurein the sequel,Red Dead Redemptionhas something called Basic and Improved Campsites that facilitate fast travel. The former is available by default in John Marston’s kit. As for Improved Campsites, players have to purchase them from the General Store in exchange for $175.

For those wondering, you can sell items like Red Sage, Wild Feverfew, and Crow Feathers to merchants to quickly earn some currency in the early stages of the game. Regardless, the Improved Campsites will show up in John Marston’s kit, and they can only be deployed somewhere far from towns or any populated area.

Like the Stagecoach, Campsites will have the option to fast travel to different cities or a specific waypoint on the map. They can also be used to save game data on the go.
