After activating a buried supplies mission from a trader, you’ll need to head to the rally point. Once there, you’ll need to activate said rally point and ensure that you stay within a certain radius of the dig site, or the mission will fail.
When you first activate the rally point, the dig site will be fairly large. However, by default, every 10 blocks you dig, the dig site will shrink slightly. The other differences between treasure maps and treasure missions are that treasure map loot boxes are locked, and they don’t spawn zombies when opened. As for loot quality, while a lot of it willdepend on your loot stage and your perks/mods, there aren’t any high-tier buried treasure trader missions. So, as you progress, buried treasure trader missions will become less profitable.

It doesn’t matter whether the player is using a treasure map or following a trader mission; there are still some things they can do tomake finding the treasure easier.
