The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdomadds to the already massive map from the first game, leaving a huge world for players to explore. While there are many methods for getting around, getting and taming a horse is one of the easiest and most reliable methods for travel.

Getting a horsecan be done very early into the game, with the only restriction being that players will need to first find a stable to register a horse at. Registering a horse is also a cheap process, letting players take advantage of stables and use a horse right away if they want.

How To Get A Horse In Tears Of The Kingdom

To make getting and registering a horse easy, it’s best to first find a nearby stable. Stables are marked with the horse icon on the map, and they can easily be spottedusing Skyview towersto mark them on the map. Once you find a stable, searchnearby fields and plains to find a wild horse. Enemy horses can also be tamed after their rider is taken out, but finding wild ones is usually the easier overall option.

Once you’ve found a horse you want, approach it using either speedor stealth. The speed approach of sprinting straight at it is far less reliable, and will often lead to you getting kicked, but can still lead to positive results if you’re fast enough. With either method,press A once you get close to mount the horseand start to try and tame it.

Continue topress L to slow down and soothe the horse. Every few times you soothe the horse, hearts will appear around the horse, showing that it is starting to bond with you. As the bond gets stronger, the horse will be less likely to buck you off and can be ridden back to the nearest stable to be registered.

How To Register A Horse In Tears Of The Kingdom

Once you have ridden your horse back to the nearest stable,approach the person at the front window on horsebackand press ZL + A to talk to them. You’ll then get the choice to view the horses' stats and register them if you want. Thestats for a horseare mostly determined by stars and include the following:

For a small Rupee cost, you can register that horse and have it permanently available whenever youvisit any stable. From this same stable hand in the window, you can choose to take out a horse and have it as your active horse, or board your currently active horse to store it for later use. Yourhorses are boarded in all stables simultaneously,letting you pull a boarded horse out from any stable anywhere.

Horses can be taken out and boarded as often as you’d like without any penalty. Press the down arrow on the directional pad anywhere to summon your currently active horse. Should you leave it somewhere, itcan be summoned with your whistle from anywhere, making horses very efficient to use no matter the situation.
