There is a wide variety of perks and crafting blueprints inOnce Humanthat’s locked behind Specializations, one of the game’s role-playing mechanics that gives players some additional agency into making the character they want. These are normally selected when a player’s level reaches a factor of five, but shortly after launch, the devs introduced Specialization Memory Fragments into the game.
Not everyone will be able to obtainthe best Specializations inOnce Humanall at once, but Memory Fragments give players the chance to at least optimize their characters even further. Here’s how you can get some of them.
How To Get Specialization Memory Fragments
Players have a very low chance of getting Specialization Memory Fragments from the loot chestsat the end of Silo and Monolith boss runs. The game doesn’t explicitly state what the drop rates for these fragments are, but players have reported getting at least one Specialization after spending 20-40 on Controllers on these activities.
When farming either Silos or Monoliths, we strongly recommendplaying on Hard difficultyat the very least. The quality of loot you get here is significantly better than in Normal mode, so even if you don’t get a Specialization Memory Fragment, you’ll at least get good mods and legendary weapons. The Shadow Hound boss inOnce Humandrops all sorts of weapon mods, making it a good choice if you plan on exploring new builds in the future.
If push comes to shove, you can always buy a Specialization Memory Fragment from other players. Ask in World Chat or try checkingVending Machinesif anyone has some fragments for sale.
As of writing, there’s no proof that playing on Hard or Pro mode increases the drop rate for Specialization Memory Fragments. Additionally, some players have reported getting fragments from low-level, Normal mode bosses like Treant in Gaia Cliff Monolith.
How To Use Specialization Memory Fragments
Once you’ve obtained a fragment, open your Specializations screenby going to yourCradleand opening theMemetics menuand clicking on the button on the top-left corner. In the Specializations screen, click on the button in the top-right corner to open a new interface containing the Specialization Memory Fragments you’ve obtained so far. Pick one, then overwrite one of the Specializations you’ve unlocked.
Fragments are assigned their own levels, and they can only replace Specializations within their indicated level range. You won’t be able to replace the Specialization you got at level 45 if you have a Memory Fragment that’s only for levels 5, 10, and 15.
Specialization Memory Fragment Limitations
Once Human’s season rulesdo not include Specialization Memory Fragments among the items players can take to the next season.Once the current scenario ends, all fragments will be destroyed. As such, avoid farming late into a season and use Memetic Cleansers to reset unwanted Specializations instead. Cleansers are obtained by completing Seasonal Goals.
Additionally, you can only use three Specialization Memory Fragments per season. You won’t be able to replace your perks once you hit this cap, even if you do get excess fragments.
