Grounded 2has a lot of combat, as many bugs will attack you on sight throughout the park. Whilea lot of the bugsin the first area don’t pose too much of a threat, they will quickly get bigger, have more health, and deal a lot more damage.
While you can try to dodge every incoming attack, it costs a lot of stamina and may not always be the best option. You can block almost any attack to still ignore damage, but landing a perfect block will also set you up to get a strong counterattack in.
How to Perfect Block (Parry) in Grounded 2
A Perfect Block and Parry are the same thing and are used interchangeably in the game.
A Perfect Block is landed whenever you time yourblock to the last second right before an attack hits you. You’ll know you landed a perfect block when you see the yellow particle effect explode from wherever contact was made.Your characteralso doesn’t move at an incredible speed, so landing a perfect block will require you to start the block animation slightly before you’d think to, as a block or a perfect block only happens when your character completes the animation of raising their weapon or shield.
A Perfect Block can be done with just about any weapon or shield, so itwon’t matter what you’re using to block. While it may seem like the animation toraise a shieldis quicker than raising a spear with both hands, all animations are ultimately the same, so there’s no way to make parrying any easier.
Benefits of Landing a Parry in Grounded 2
There are two main reasons you’ll want to practice landing a Perfect Block:
Stunning enemies leaves them open to critical hits, which deal a bit more damage than your other attacks. If you’re dealing with a group, stunning some enemies will help you temporarily thin the herd to focus on a more manageable number of enemies.
While landing a parry is very helpful, it can take a bit to get the timing down, and every bug in the game has unique attack animations. You’ll want to try regular blocking or dodging at the beginning of a fight to make sure you get the animations down before trying for the riskier Perfect Block; otherwise, you’ll end up gettinghit more than you’d like.
