How to Upgrade to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered on PS5
Those who own a digital copy ofHorizon Zero Dawnfor the PS4 can already upgrade to the remastered version byvisiting the game’s PlayStation Store page and selecting the upgrade option. In the US, the upgrade will set players back $10, with the UK (£10) and European storefronts (€10) following a similar pricing structure. Upgrading before the game’s October 31 release date will count as pre-ordering. As has been the case whenupgrading to other PS5 remasters, players who own a physical copy ofHorizon Zero Dawnwill need to wait until the remaster is released before they can upgrade. If they do decide to upgrade the physical version, they’ll need to have the disc inserted in order to be able to play.
Unlike withtheMarvel’s Spider-Man RemasteredPS5 upgrade, those who claimedHorizon Zero Dawnfor free as part of Sony’s Play at Home campaign will be able to upgrade toHorizon Zero Dawn Remastered.

Some PC players will also be able to upgrade toHorizon Zero Dawn Remastered; specifically, those who purchased the original game through Steam or the Epic Games Store. Sadly, the PlayStation blog post announcing the remaster doesn’t mention GOG, and, as of the time of writing, there isn’t an option to upgrade toHorizon Zero Dawn Remasteredthrough GOG. Of course, this could all change in the future, but for the time being,the PC upgrade ofHorizon Zero Dawnis limited to Steam and EGS customers.
Is the Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered Upgrade Worth It?
For anyone who has never playedHorizon Zero Dawn, the 2024 remaster will serve as the definitive way to experience the game, boastingimproved audio, visuals, and animations. Those who have already played through the game may not find any value in upgrading despite the modest cost of doing so, although if they do plan on completing the game again at any point, they should definitely consider the remastered version if upgrading is still an option.
