WWEwrestling legend Hulk Hogan has died at age 71. Hulk Hogan rose to superstardom in the 1980s, main eventing the first WrestleMania, holding the WWF Championship for much of the decade, and ushering in the mainstream wrestling boom. Hogan would eventually leaveWWEto compete for rival promotion WCW, in turn kicking off yet another wrestling boom.
Hogan’s shocking heel turn at WCW Bash at the Beach 1996 saw the formation of the New World Order, aka the nWo, which became one of the most influential and popular wrestling stables of all time. Hogan and the nWo saw WCW trounce WWE for 83 straight weeks in the ratings during the Monday Night Wars, which led to the creation of the Attitude Era and saw WWE push new talent like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock. Hogan would return to WWE after WCW was acquired by the company and had a successful run as a babyface in his classic red-and-yellow colors, winning the WWE Championship yet again in 2002. From then on, Hogan would make sporadic appearances in WWE and even spent some time in TNA.
Hulk Hogan Cause of Death
According to TMZ Sports, Hulk Hogan has died at age 71 in Clearwater, Florida in the morning hours of Thursday, July 24. While an official statement has yet to be released,Hogan’s cause of death is said to be from cardiac arrest. Hogan’s death comes weeks after reports of the wrestling legend being “on his deathbed,” which were denied at the time.
Over the course of his career, Hogan held the WWE Championship six times, the tag team championship one time with Edge, the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times, and the IWGP Heavyweight Championship one time, among various other titles. Hogan also won the Royal Rumble twice and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on two separate occasions - once in 2005 as a solo inductee and again in 2020 as part of the New World Order.
