The Last Hiatus of Hunter X Hunter Happened Almost Two Years Ago
Hunter X Hunter is a very popular Shonen manga, but to fans’ sadness, it is often on hiatus. The author, Yoshihiro Togashi, has been writing and illustrating this manga since the year 1998. Due to his constant health issues, he has had to take hiatuses, with fans never truly knowing when the series comes back.
Hunter x Hunter was, however, back not too long ago, in November of 2022, for a run of 10 chapters, spanning from chapter 391 to chapter 400. The last chapter ended in late December of that very same year. Since then, the fans hadn’t heard anything, until Togashi teased on his social media the return of his manga once more.
Now, two years after the last hiatus, the story is making its comeback. Something many fans will be glad to know, especially whenTogashi has revealed possible endings of his series’, worrying fans if he will ever get to finish it. To be specific, Togashi had provided 4 possible endings to his series – endings A, B, C, and D. However, he only showed fans the ending D, as he deemed it to be the most satisfactory one out of the 4.
His health issues are the reason that pushed him to do so, and the manga returning will be a glimpse of hope for fans who hope to read the ending of HxH from Togashi. Though, as things stand, it seems the ending is still very far away and could take years, if not decades t,o reach, especially given that the characters are yet to step into the Dark Continent. HxH had the potential to run for as long as the likes of One Piece. However, due to his health issues, Togashi will likely have to cut the story as short as he can to potentially manage to conclude it someday.
The Events Prior to the Hiatus Of Hunter x Hunter
The Story Remains in the Succession Contest arc
Before the hiatus that occurred two years ago in late 2022, the manga had returned from a very long break. The manga was on break from 2018 to 2022, which amounts to nearly 4 years. What’s even more surprising is that this wasn’t even the longest hiatus that the story has taken. However, Togashi has been trying to give fans more chapters, and sooner as well.
Last time around, fans got to read 10 chapters, from 391 to 400, all still set in the Succession Contest arc – an arc that had started back in chapter 349. This makes the arc a bit over 50 chapters already, with no real signs of it coming to its climax and conclusion anytime soon.
The 10 chapters the fans got heavily revolved around the mafia families on the Black Whale. Specifically, these groups are known as the Xi-Yu, Heil-ly, and Cha-R. Fans got to see many of their members in action, and will definitely get to see more of them in the upcoming chapters that are set to be released.
The 10 chapters fans got two years ago also heavily focused on the Phantom Troupe. In fact, it showcased to fans their flashback.Chrollo and some of the other memberswere seen as kids, and their lives in Meteor City, the repercussions on the group as a whole, and the events that led to the founding of the troupe were shown to the fans. The chapters covering the Phantom Troupe were some of the best ever in the history ofHunter x Hunter, and heavily anticipated by fans.
Finally, in those 10 chapters, the story saw the return of a very popular and beloved character, Hisoka Morrow. Before that, he had not been seen in quite some time as the Troupe were looking for him after he killed two of their members. Fans can only hope that the next chapters will cover more of these beloved characters, among others.

The Events To Come In Hunter X Hunter
The Story Might Focus on the Phantom Troupe
As discussed already, the last 10 chapters of Hunter x Hunter were incredibly fun and showcased the importanceof the Phantom Troupe, especially with the reveal of their past and with some of them going into action, notably Nobunaga, Phinks, and Feitan.
In the next chapters that will come, it’s possible the author will showcase the whereabouts of the other members of the Spider and show them on their own missions. It’s also possible that some spiders will finally run into Hisoka, someone they’ve been looking for for quite a while now, which could result in a deadly fight.Hisoka has become even more powerfulwith his death and revival in the manga, so they need to tread carefully.
The story will also probably showcase more of Morena Prudo, the boss of Heil-Ly. Perhaps, she could be seen going into some action. Fans can also expect to see the other mafia families in action, specifically a character known as Hinrigh Biganduffno, the underboss of Xi-Yu. This character was vital in the last 10 chapters and will definitely be relevant going forward as well.
Other relevant characters that might definitely make a comeback are Kurapika, one of the series’ main characters, and the one who’s being set up as a major antagonist, Tserriednich Hui Guo Rou, a man with frightening potential, if allowed to flourish. Whatever happens in the next chapters, fans can be assured that the story will only get more intense from here onwards.
