In December 2022, anew Nikki game by formerLegend of Zeldaseries directorKentaro Tominaga was announced, bringing the series off the mobile screen and to the PlayStation brand in a magical adventure format.
A new trailer released by PlayStation details theaction-filled elements ofInfinity Nikkias the title character uses Whim Stars to create different outfits, which appear to change instantly when she utilizes their specific abilities. Each outfit will grant her Powers of Whim, such as floating in midair, purifying corrupted enemies, bug catching, and animal grooming. Players will start with Bubbly Voyage, an off-the-shoulder blue and white sun dress that provides enhanced jumping and gliding ability thanks to the array of bubbles it produces, which looks to help Nikki traverse the game’s platforming sections. Some other outfits look like they will aid Nikki in combat situations, as she’s shown wearing a more ornate white dress while firing green bolts of magic at enemies and using an aerial plunge attack to stomp at them from above. Cozy elements are shown as well, as Nikki grooms a giant, fluffy bird while wearing the maid-like Bye Bye Dust outfit.

While theNikkiseries may be an unknown for many western game enthusiasts, the global pre-release popularity of the next chapter in her adventure looks like it will draw in massive numbers of players. More than12 million people had lined up to playInfinity Nikkiby mid-August, and figures from the game’sofficial websiteshow that number has ballooned to more than 30 million by the end of the first full week of November.
While expected to be released before the end of 2024, there is still noofficial release date forInfinity Nikki. However, a PlayStation Store leak from earlier in the week pointed to a release date of December 4 or 5, depending on players' time zones.
