Baldur’s Gate 3Shadowheart actor Jennifer English has commented on her hot streak of beloved RPGs over the last few years. TheBaldur’s Gate 3star has described the run as “pure luck,” despite her characters arguably being among the best elements of each title.

It has undoubtedly been an excellent few years for English’s career. Her streak began with the role of Latenna the Albinauric in 2022’sElden Ring, albeit in a smaller capacity compared to what was to come. She then received rave reviews for her performance asShadowheart inBaldur’s Gate 3, putting English on the map as an actor for RPG fans to look out for. Then, this year, she played a starring role as Maelle in the massively successfulClair Obscur: Expedition 33, capping off what has been a huge period for English.

Speaking to Fall Damage on YouTube, English said of her successful last few years, “It is pure luck. I’m very, very grateful to have been invited to do some beautiful games. It’s just chance that I got all three of those roles [Latenna inElden Ring, Shadowheart inBaldur’s Gate 3, and Maelle inExpedition 33].” Considering theClair Obscurdevs didn’t recognize English from her previous roles, it’s fair to suggest she may be doing herself a disservice to suggest it’s all luck, with the talent there for all to see.

Despite her award-laden body of work of late, it’s not about the accolades for English. “Regardless of awards or whatever, it’s more about the audience and the fans, and it’s about how much they loved it, and it seems that people have lovedExpedition 33a lot.” WithClair Obscur: Expedition 33hitting huge sales milestonessince its launch earlier this year, plenty of gamers certainly did love Sandfall Interactive’s latest RPG, the critical darling also proving to have widespread appeal.

Next up for English isTides of Annihilation, whichmade its debut with a trailer earlier this year. She plays protagonist Gwendolyn, in what hopefully proves to be another critically acclaimed effort. The actor has also indicated a willingness to return to the role of Shadowheart in the future, although this is complicated by Larian’s lack of involvement with any possibleBaldur’s Gatesequel.
