In fact, it was recently announced thatJJKis going to end sooner than fans expected. This has proven to be a very bizarre announcement to the fans, because there are way too many loose ends in the story that simply cannot be wrapped up in mere 5 chapters. Because of that, this final arc of JJK has largely proven to be a failure, not just for the character arcs of various individuals, but also for the overarching theme of the story.

How Jujutsu Kaisen’s Final Saga Has Developed

Jujutsu Kaisen Has Shown High-octane Battles To The Fans

The last Arc ofJJKis named Shinjuku Showdown. Essentially, this arc is directly connected to the Culling Game and sees this extremely dragged-out game continue. In this segment of the story, fans saw Gojo fighting against Sukuna after he was unsealed, and it is safe to say that this was the most exciting part of the arc. Gojo’s battle against Sukuna was such that fans were on the edge of their seats every single week, and it delivered extremely intense action and, at the same time, exhilarating developments in the plot. Above all, fans were delighted to see Gojo in the story once again, and he certainly lit up the battlefield with his extremely amazing powers as well.

Unfortunately, Gojo ended up losing his life, and from there onwards, a raid against the King of Curses kick-started. Fans saw several powerful sorcerers take up arms against Sukuna in this raid, starting with the likes of Yuji and Higuruma, going all the way to the likes of Maki, Kusakabe, and even the likes of Todo recently. Now, all this has boiled down to a one-on-one battle between Yuji and Sukuna, and it is safe to say that this fight is going to conclude soon enough. The author is setting up the protagonist of the story to beat Sukuna, and to do that, he has given him the Shrine cursed technique, which was teased for him at the very beginning of the series.

After years upon years of growth, Yuji has finally tapped into this power. Not only that, but he has also gained access to a domain expansion, and Yuji has already tapped into it in his battle against Sukuna. It is likely that this battle is going to be settled inside his domain, and the king of curses is going to fall soon.

On August 18th, 2024, the author, Gege Akutami, finally announced that the story Jujutsu Kaisen was coming to an end. This announcement was not a surprise. Readers of the story have known that Jujutsu Kaisen was ending soon enough. In fact, the author actually meant to end the story in 2023, but couldn’t. Later down the line, the author commented that he was planning on ending the story in 2024. However, due to there being many loose ends in the story, fans simply did not believe that JJK would wrap up as soon as it is planning to.

Essentially, the author announced in his message that Jujutsu Kaisen would end in five more chapters, from JJK chapter 267. This essentially means that JJK chapter 271 is going to be the last chapter of the story, where all the conflict is going to be dealt with, and a resolution is going to be provided to the fans. Here is what the author had to say about the story’s conclusion:

”The story will end in 5 more chapters. I am only able to end the story in the way I wanted thanks to the support and cooperation of all my readers. Thank you!! I am working hard to create a final chapter that will (probably) satisfy as many people as possible who have supported “Jujutsu Kaisen”. So everyone!! Please bear with me!!”

The Missing Factor In JJK’s Final Saga

Jujutsu Kaisen Has A Plethora Of Issues To Resolve Still

When it comes to the Final Saga ofJujutsu Kaisen, there are many things that the story is lacking right now. For one, there is emphatic character writing that is simply missing for almost all individuals in the story. The protagonist of the series itself, Yuji, is not an interesting enough character. Sure, Yuji has fans as well, but, at the end of the day, he is not a character that the readers absolutely cling to and think of as the face of the story. This is something that the author admitted himself. He mentioned that he feels he failed to make Yuji an intriguing character that grips the readers. Instead, the likes of Gojo and Megumi have always been at the top of the readers' list of the most exciting characters in the story.

Domain Expansion! – Yuji Itadori

This paints a very clear picture as to how The author focuses on his character writing. This doesn’t just go for Yuji. All the characters in the story, such as Nobara, were dealt a very terrible fate.Nobara was killed off way too early, and all the exciting plot points that the author has set up for her were completely erased. To make things worse, her death was left ambiguous on purpose by the author, and later, it was implied that she had truly died. Gojo met a similar fate, and fans knew that his story was not fulfilling either.

Similar fates were given to many other characters in the story, and it is safe to say that the writing for most individuals is not up to the mark. Another example of this is Shoko, who fans know to be a glorified hospital in JJK. She simply doesn’t do anything but heal people and there is absolutely no characterization to this individual. Replacing her with a normal hospital would change absolutely nothing in the plot, and that says a lot. Just like her, there are many other characters in the story who are dealt with in a similar manner.

The Lack Of Characterization For Sukuna

The main villain of the story, Ryomen Sukuna, is yet another similar individual. Fans know little to nothing about Sukuna. Now, there is a notion among the fans that every villain needs an elaborate backstory. This isn’t true. Every villain does not need a backstory or a sob story. Some villains are perfect with the characterization they receive as arcs go. Strength-wise, Sukuna certainly has lived up to all expectations and more. However, there are elements to this character that fans would want to know about. An exciting connection was drawn between Sukuna and Yuji’s father early on in the story. Even his birth was teased by the author to be very exciting, but unfortunately, none of these things have been elaborated upon in the series.

Similarly, there are characters such as Hakari and Uraume, among others, who have done absolutely nothing significant. In fact, even one of the biggest villains ofJJK,Kenjaku, met a very underwhelming death, and the entire plot point that he was building towards for centuries upon centuries, that is, the merger, isn’t even coming to fruition, given that the story is ending in five chapters. Clearly, this is a very rushed ending, and one that has failed the fans in many ways.
