After a thoroughly enoyable season one in 2024, Naoya Matsumoto’sKaiju No. 8’s highly-anticipated second season is on its way. Set to premiere in 2025, season two of the anime was teased in an action-packed trailer uploaded to the official Toho Animation YouTube channel. The second season was confirmed on 07 July 2025 that we can expect a new installment very soon. While the trailer does not reveal too much, with zero dialogue and lots of action sequences, it is certain that the new season is definitely arriving in 2025.

Kaiju No.8is set in a Japan where kaiju run rampant across the land. These monsters attack people and need intervention. Enter the Japanese Defense Force who are tasked with this. The anime followsKafka Hibino, who wants to join this Force and put an end to the kaiju that plague his country. Things take a twisted turn for Kafka as it is revealed that after consuming a kaiju, he can now transform into one. With this massive cliffhanger, season two is set up for a whirlwind.
How will his time at theJapanese Defense Forcepan out? We will only know at some point in 2025, the specific date unknown to the public as of now. If the manga is to be followed, season two may go ahead with the “The Compatible User Arc”.
What’s next for season two?
It is speculated that, in anticipation of season two, aKaiju No. 8event is to take place in Japanese cinemas. This will supposedly feature the voice cast, scenes from season one and a special episode of the anime titled “Hoshina’s Day Off”. More information is to be revealed regarding the cast, soundtrack and more. However, it is worth noting that Koki Uchiyama, the voice of Japanese Defence Force captain Gen Narumi, can be heard in the trailer, which can lead us to believe that he will be in season two.
