Officially revealed in June 2021,Metal Slug Tacticswas initially expected to release in 2023. That did not come to pass, though, and a June 2024 update revealed a new release window for the title. Specifically, the update indicated that thetactical RPGwould be available in Fall 2024, though a specific release date was not provided.
That is no longer the case, though, as it is now confirmed thatMetal Slug Tacticswill be released on August 01, 2025. The game’s publisher, Dotemu, has also indicated that more information about the game’s physical release is coming soon, and that is sure to excite collectors of physical media. Additionally, Dotemu states that pre-order details are forthcoming, and the game’s price may be among that information.
Metal Slug Tactics Release Date
The reveal ofMetal Slug Tactics' release date came through a variety of channels, including a brand-new trailer. Not only did the trailer confirm the game’s release date, it also revealed that the Ikari Warriors Clark Still, Ralf Jones, and Leona Heidern will appear as playable reinforcements inMetal Slug Tactics.
For the uninitiated, Clark and Ralph are characters that debuted in SNK’s 1986 run-and-gun titleIkari Warriors, andMetal Slug 6, which released in 2006, was the first time that they appeared in aMetal Sluggame. Leona, on the other hand, did not become a member of Team Ikari Warriors untilThe King of Fighters ‘96, and she did not make herMetal Slugdebut untilMetal Slug XXin 2010.
These three Ikari Warriors will join Marco, Tarma, Eri, and Fiolina onMetal Slug Tactic’s roster, putting the current count of playable characters at seven. That said, it has been confirmed that fans ofstrategy gameswill be able to “choose between nine iconic characters from the series” when building their teams, which means that two reinforcements remain unrevealed.
With respect to those unrevealed characters, it is expected that Nadia Cassel and Trevor Spacey will take the final two slots on the roster. Indeed, these twoMetal Slug 4characters are notably absent from the list of currently-confirmed reinforcements, and it would be surprising if they did not appear inMetal Slug Tactics. Fortunately, fans ofturn-based gameswill know very soon if Nadia and Trevor make the cut, as the game’s release is imminent.
