Atlus revealed the voice cast for the characters inMetaphor: ReFantazio. Eleven voice actors have been introduced, covering both party members, traveling companions, and election candidates. UnlikePersona,Metaphor: ReFantaziowon’t feature a silent protagonist, whose voice actor has also been revealed.
Metaphor: ReFantaziois being developed by Studio Zero, a subsidiary of Atlus dedicated to creating new IPs beyondShin Megami TenseiandPersona. The division is led by Katsura Hashino, the director and producer of severalPersonatitles and the director ofMetaphor: ReFantazio. Because of that,comparisons betweenMetaphor: ReFantazioandPersonahave been constant, but Hashino assures that the upcoming RPG will have its own distinct identity and personality.
Recently, Atlus unveiled the voice cast forMetaphor: ReFantazio. The game’s protagonist will be voiced by Caleb Yen (Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth). The cast also includes Alejandra Reynoso (CastlevaniaTV series) as Gallica, Stewart Clarke (Final Fantasy 16) as Strohl, Kristin Atherton (Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden) as Hulkenberg, and Phillipe Spall (Amnesia: The Bunker) as Heismay. These are the five party members confirmed so far in the game. Atlus has said there will be seven party members in total, which increases the potential forarchetypes inMetaphor: ReFantazio.

The rest of the voice actors listed include Emma Ballantine (Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree) as Junah, Emily Burnett (Doctor Who: The Lonely Assassins) as Eupha, David Monteith (Baldur’s Gate 3) as Neuras, Joseph Tweedale (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla) as Louis, Greg Chun (Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance) as More, and Gordon Cooper (Rise of the Ronin) as Grius. These characters are a mix of theelection candidates inMetaphor: ReFantazioand the protagonist’s traveling companions.
In the same announcement that revealed the voice cast, Atlus confirmed thatMetaphor: ReFantaziowill be part of Xbox @ Gamescom 2024, featuring an interview with the voice actors and showcasing new content at the event in aplayableMetaphor: ReFantaziodemo. The interview will include Stewart Clarke and Kristin Atherton, who voice Strohl and Hulkenberg. The actors will offer insight into the recording process and answer questions about the RPG.
While the English voice cast has been confirmed, the Japanese version has faced some setbacks. In June this year,Atlus announced that it had recast voice actorToru Furuya following abuse allegations. The character Furuya was set to voice inMetaphor: ReFantaziohadn’t been revealed before his dismissal, but the veteran’s resume includes iconic roles such as Seiya fromKnights of the Zodiac, Yamcha fromDragon Ball, and Amuro Ray from theGundamseries. Atlus has yet to reveal the complete Japanese voice cast forMetaphor: ReFantazio.
