Summary

Belovedhorrordirector Mike Flanagan is all set to produce a new zombie movie, which will feature returning icons from previous projects. Flanagan already has his full plate with the upcoming reboot ofThe Exorcist, aCarrieTV series in development at Amazon MGM Studios, as well as adapting theStephen Kingstory,The Life of Chuck, so one more exciting sounding movie shouldn’t make a difference for the industrious American filmmaker.

Previously, Flanagan wrote and directed other horror films, which includeAbsentia,Oculus,Ouija: Origin of Evil, before taking on the prequel toThe Shining,Doctor Sleep. Arguably,Flanagan’s most popular creationswere the chilling Netflix horror show’sThe Haunting of Hill HouseandThe Haunting of Bly Manor. However, supernatural enthusiasts were delighted withMidnight Mass, calling it Flanagan’s best series yet, especially praising the performances of Zach Gilford, Kate Siegel and Hamish Linklater. Now, Flanagan will take on the post-apocalypse in what could be his scariest and biggest adventure into the horror genre yet.

Mike Flanagan’s Epilogue Will Star Kate Siege and David Dastmalchian

In a report byDeadline, Mike Flanagan will be producing a zombie movie calledEpilogue, which is set to starOppenheimerandLate Night with the Devilactor, David Dastmalchian, as well asMidnight MassandThe Fall of the House of Usherstar, Kate Siegel. The premise ofEpiloguetells the story a year after a zombie apocalypse terrorized the world, centering on a couple who set out on a treacherous journey to find a cure for their child who has been infected. The film will be helmed byThe Fall of the House of Usher’s Michael Fimognari from a screenplay penned by Luke Barnett and Tanner Thomason. Siegel and Dastmalchian have worked on a handful of Flanagan’s projects previously, makingEpiloguetheir most recent horror collaboration since stepping off the set inThe Life of Chuck, which received top honors at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, winning the People’s Choice Award.

Currently, most ofEpilogue’sstory details are kept under lock and key or who Siegel and Dastmalchian’s characters will be, but they both could possibly play the parents of the infected child. Regardless, what we know so far seems like a winning combination for Flanagan, as his passion for the macabre and heartwrenching emotional narratives seems well suited to a movie about terrifying zombies, which sounds like it might even giveHBO’sThe Last of Usa run for its money. Flanagan will produce the movie through his Red Room Pictures company, and will be joined byMortal Kombat’s Todd Gardner, alongside Courtney Petrakis and Brittney McDade.

So far, there’s no release date announcement forEpiloguejust yet. However, Flanagan fans will have plenty of horror-filled fun to quench their thirst whenThe Exorcist arrivesin theaters on Friday, March 13th, 2026 and the eight-episode longseries of Stephen King’sCarrie, which is still in development at Amazon.
