Summary

Minecraftfans want the game’s Giant mob to be officially added to the game. TheMinecraftGiant has been something of an oddity all these years, and while it’s never been a naturally-spawning official mob in the game, that doesn’t stop fans from wishing that it were.

Minecraftis constantly undergoing updates, and while the title makes regular additions and alterations that affect gameplay, it also often modifies things in the background that don’t impact anything players would come across naturally. Some of these elements eventually make it into the game, while others continue to be tinkered with. One such example of this is the Giant, which fans apparently still want to see added toMinecraftas a full-fledged mob.

Over on Reddit, players are discussing the Giant and its potential for the game. TheMinecraftGianthas been around, technically, since the early days ofMinecraft’s development. It’s a huge mob that stands twelve blocks tall, and uses the same model as a standard zombie. While technically hostile, the Giant can’t spawn naturally in the game, and even when it’s forcibly spawned, it lacks AI. This has largely left the Giant’s purpose and possibilities up to players' imagination, and it seems that fans have a lot of ideas as to how it could work.

Minecraft Players Discuss Giant Possibilities

One of the Giant’s problems is that it’s so huge that navigating would be difficult, as it would likely run into any and all obstacles nearby. Players have suggested that given its size, it would be terrifying and incredible if the Giant could spontaneously spawn and serve as a unique boss like theEnder Dragon, destroying everything in its path as it moves. Players seem excited and horrified by the idea of it potentially wandering through a base a player has spent countless hours constructing only to crush it underfoot, especially in Hardcore mode.

As for how the Giant would come to exist, opinions of players differ. Some have suggested that there could just be an extremely rare chance for it to spawn at random, while others have suggested it spawn after a standard zombie is struck by lightning multiple times. However, givenMinecraft’s worlds are practically infinite in size, making its spawning chance too rare or random could mean a player could potentially co-exist with one and not ever know it was even in their world.

It’s clearly understandable why theGiant hasn’t been implemented inMinecraft, as adding it in a way that would be impactful without angering players or being completely missed would be difficult. However, the mob remains in the game’s files, so there’s always a chance that someday Mojang could find a way to make it a reality. For now, though, players will just have to keep imagining with a colossal menace inMinecraftwould be like.
