One of Urban’s co-stars also seemingly confirmed this and even said that his version of Johnny Cage would be “unique.“Mortal KombatstarLewis Tan, who plays Cole Youngin the 2021 live-action movie, spoke withScreen Rantat the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con and shared some key details about Urban’s character in the franchise. According to him, theBoysstar is a talented and experienced actor and will bring an “interesting” take on the belovedMortal Kombatcharacter. Tan said, “I think it’s really unique, it’s maybe different from what people are expecting, but I think he’s such [a] good actor. He’s been around for a long time, done a lot of great roles, and a lot of great franchises himself. So yeah, he’s no stranger to this type of thing, so he’s bringing something really special.” He added that he couldn’t talk too much about the movie, but they had a lot of fun while filming, and he liked Urban’s take on Johnny Cage.
Mortal Kombat 2wrapped up filming earlier this year and Urban shared a snap with his co-stars in January to mark their final day on set. The snap also showed a glimpse of the crew members having fun together. Urban thanked everyone involved in the caption and expressed excitement about the project while teasing fans that he couldn’t wait for them to watch the film. It’s unclear how different Urban’s Johnny Cage version will be from the video game.
