Summary
Player First Games releases a new trailer for Beetlejuice, its latestMultiversusfighter, while also revealing players can get their hands on him starting next week. Following its surprise shutdown last year,Multiversusreturned in May of 2024 with all new features and quality of life changes learned from its lengthy beta release. The team at Player First Games added a PvE mode called Rifts alongside new fighter adjustments, engine tweaks, and plenty more.
However, for many fans, the biggest piece of this platform fighter is the content, which draws from the lengthy catalog of franchises and IPs from Warner Bros. Alongside the original roster of characters,Multiversushas revealed surprising new characterslike Jason Voorhees from theFriday the 13thhorror film franchise and Agent Smith fromThe Matrixseries. However, the team isn’t stopping there as Season 2 confirmed Samurai Jack, one of the most highly requested characters by fans, as well as Beetlejuice, though at the time, fans didn’t have a clear idea of when the character would make the main roster.
Thankfully, Player First Games has addressed that knowledge gap with a brand-new trailer. The new gameplay shows off Beetlejuice in-game, withMutliversusclassifying the ghost character as an assassin type. Alongside his iconic catchphrases, Beetlejuice brings a bunch of moves and abilities seemingly pulled right fromTim Burton’s classic film, including the character being able to seemingly transform his limbs, fall forward into a coffin as his dash attack, as well as bug out his eyes and make horrifying worms and creatures sprout from his face.
Beetlejuice Launch Date for Multiversus
Alongside actual Beetlejuice gameplay, the trailer also showcases some new cosmetic items coming toMultiversus. Similar to other in-game events like Shark Week as well asThe Matrixskins added prior to the release of Agent Smith, one shot in the trailer showcased allMultiversuscharacters wearing a Beetlejuice style black and white suit outfit with purple and green hues to match. In fact, Beetlejuice himself has a few alternative costumes players can add to their collection, such as a purple neon suit, likely from the 20XXL set, and a matador outfit.
Alongside the continued release of new content, Player First Games is making sure to keep the free-to-play title updated as well. Just recently,Multiversusreleased update 1.2.1,continuing to address bugs and other various issues while making further adjustments to the recently added Rank Mode. As usual, the game’s roster continues to be adjusted in an attempt to improve underperforming characters while bringing those who are a bit too powerful back in line with the rest of the group.
