Summary

This article contains spoilers from My Hero Academia Chapter 430.

With the conclusion ofMy Hero Academia, fans got to see quite a lot of exciting developments take place in the story. Of course, there was always going to be a reshuffle in the hero society, and that was implied quite clearly in the epilogue of the series. In regards to the heroes, fans knew that there would be significant changes in that department as well.

One particular hero that all fans wanted to know more about was Mirio Togata. At the end of the series, he was seen graduating and moving on with his life as a Pro-Hero. In the very last chapter ofMy Hero Academia, it was confirmed, unsurprisingly, that Mirio had acquired the top position and was Japan’s number one Hero in the story. His ascension to this rank is exactly what is going to be discussed here.

Mirio’s Power And Potential Was Out Of The World Right From The Beginning

Mirio was introduced quite early in My Hero Academia. He was known to be a very powerful hero student, brimming with potential. In fact, Nighteye had suggested him as the next user of the One For All after Yagi Toshinori. All Might had already made up his mind to give the One For All to him, however, eventually, this power ended up with Deku instead. Nonetheless, the fact that he was a worthy wielder of the One For All in the eyes of All Might just says a lot about him. Even without the power of the One For All, fans know that Mirio was a force to be reckoned with. His physical strength, endurance, stamina, and just about every physical aspect was out of this world. This was proven to the fans time and again on various occasions. His quirk, called Permeation, allowed him to phase through things, and although it certainly does look overpowered,Mirio was actually restricted by this power for the vast majority of his life.It has to be said that this Quirk was quite likely the hardest Quirk to control in My Hero Academia, and the one with the greatest of downsides.

The fact is that Mirio was ultimately able to master this ability and push himself to the next level using his own weakness, which is why fans have come to love this character over the years. In the Shie Hassaikai arc, Mirio showcased what he was truly capable of. Not only did he utterly decimate Chisaki in a proper battle but he also took on his compatriots at the same time, still dominating. In the end, he ended up losing his Quirk, but, despite that, he was a ferocious monster on the battlefield.

Come the end of the Paranormal Liberation War, Mirio got his quirk back once again, thanks to Eri, the girl who he risked his life to save in the first place. With that, he returned to power, and in the battle against Shigaraki in the Final War, fans once again got to see him hold his own and do very well. Of course, this was not Mirio at his peak, which meant that there was still unfulfilled potential inside of him.

Mirio’s unfulfilled potential isn’t something that fans were unaware of at all times in the story. Upon his introduction, it was made clear that Mirio, even as a student, was the man closest to All Might. His powers were second to none, and his strength was absolutely sensational. For a hero student like him, having a bright future after graduating is the bare minimum.

How Mirio Became The Top Hero In My Hero Academia

Mirio Soared To The Top Of The Ranking Chart After The Timeskip

After the conclusion of the war, Mirio graduated from UA, and with that, moved on with his life. Fans did not get to see much of him in the epilogue, other than him delivering a speech, and then carrying on with his shenanigans, as usual. Later on, however, it was revealed to the fans that Mirio occupied the top spot in the hero rankings, meaning that at the end of My Hero Academia, he became the Number One Hero.

It isn’t hard for fans to figure out why Mirio was the number one hero. When looking at the capable Heroes remaining after the war, there weren’t many.Endeavor was completely crippled, while Hawks had lost his quirk and moved on to better positions. Best Jeanist and Edgeshot had both been taken out of the equation as well, and Mirko had been crippled severely. The top five Heroes were in no condition to take on the higher spots. And even if they were, Mirio, based on the number of people that he had saved and the strength that he carried, along with his charismatic personality, was always going to occupy the top spot. Mirio’s power and potential were likely fulfilled as he grew in terms of power when he became a Pro Hero. Clearly, he attained even more power after becoming a hero officially, and grew.

One also has to look at the people that Mirio has bested on the hero rankings to figure out his level of strength as a top hero. Bakugo and Shoto are both known to be extremely powerful Heroes. In fact,Bakugo could even keep up with Izukuwhen he went through awakening. He was able to match and overwhelm All For One in battle, and that was back when he was young. 8 years later, Bakugo must have gotten even stronger, especially since his support equipment would be much better as well. This means that Mirio was even able to best a much stronger version of Bakugo, who was able to go head-to-head with All For One. Similarly, Shoto was able to deal with Dabi effectively, and in many ways, he was always bound to surpass Endeavor. After graduating, Shoto was likely much stronger than Endeavor ever was. Despite that, Mirio is actually ahead of him.

I will always be Lemillion! Nothing I’ve done up to now will ever be useless! – Mirio

At the end of the series,Mirio’s strength must have been astronomical, and it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that he must be stronger than Endeavor as the top hero, or even close to the levels of prime All Might, hard as that might be for fans to believe. Of course, prime All Might would likely still be much superior, but Mirio being close shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. After all, he was the closest to All Might back when he was a student. Years later, the gap must have closed up even more.

It is safe to say that all the powers that Mirio had and acquired after the war were enough to see himtake the top spot as Japan’s Number One Heroin My Hero Academia, and this position is completely deserved as well. Hopefully, if My Hero Academia were to ever get a sequel in the form of a one-shot or a movie, fans would love to see more of his remarkable strength.

My Hero Academia is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and theManga Plusapp. The release date for the final chapter of My Hero Academia, My Hero Academia chapter 430, was July 26, 2025.
