Summary
My Hero Academia’srecent chapter marked the end of the story, and that meant fans finally got to see the journeys of their favorite characters conclude. Of course,My Hero Academiahas introduced fans to a plethora of characters over the years, and it is safe to say that the vast majority of them are loved dearly by the fans.
Ochaco, the main heroine of the series, is one such character and it is safe to say that the ending she got garnered somewhat of a mixed reaction. While the fans appreciated some aspects of her story’s ending, others were handled poorly and lacked a proper ending. Still, fans who are interested in knowing how the story of Ochaco Uraraka ended in My Hero Academia needn’t look further.
How Ochaco Unburned Herself To Izuku Midoriya At The End
Ochaco Was Burdened By Toga’s Death
Ochaco Uraraka playeda significant role in the Final War SagaofMy Hero Academia. In fact, it is safe to say that the writing for her character in the war was somewhat exciting. This wasn’t something that fans expected from Horikoshi, given that the writing for his female characters was subpar throughout the story, at best. However, he surprised fans with how he handled Ochaco’s story arc, as she fought against Toga, and delivered a proper conclusion to the fight, which was true to her personality as well. In fact, it is safe to say that this was one of the most emphatic fights that fans got to witness in the Final War Saga, and she played a significant role in saving countless citizens when her Quirk awakened and she utilized the powers Zero Gravity properly. Of course, in the end, Ochaco suffered terrible injuries, and she ended up being saved by none other than Toga. This was something that the fans didn’t expect would happen, but it certainly only went on to elevate her character even further, because following these events, she carried Toga’s death burden on her shoulders.
It is my fault that Toga died! – Ochaco Uraraka
After the war’s conclusion, it was clear for the fans to see that Ochaco blamed herself for Toga’s death, and it was hard for her to simply forget what happened. The world praised her as a hero, but, deep down, she knew that the one who saved her life and inadvertently helped her save countless people was Toga. Yet, Toga was forgotten, while Ochaco was hailed as a hero. This was a sacrifice that had a profound effect on her, and fans saw her unburden herself to Deku in the end. Ochaco carried this burden forever, and even after the timeskip, she likely kept Toga’s memory very close to her heart.
Ochaco And Deku’s Relationship Development At The End Of My Hero Academia
Ochaco And Deku Never Confessed To Each Other
Of course, a significant portion of Ochaco’s character revolved around Izuku Midoriya, the protagonist of the series. From the very beginning of the story, Ochaco was deeply in love with Deku. This was something that the author was building towards slowly, and fans knew that come the end of the story, these two would end up together. This is especially true because these feelings were mutual, which meant that Deku was in love with Ochaco, and the feelings were reciprocated as well. In fact, in many instances, Ochaco’s feelings towards Deku were stronger and the display was incredibly emotional from her side, which signified that the author was serious about these two individuals ending up together. When Ochaco unburdened herself to Deku, it was implied that these two started growing closer.Deku declared Ochaco as his hero, and the fact that they held hands and shared each other’s pain meant that they had taken the next step in their relationship.
You have always been my Hero! – Deku To Ochaco
However, much to the dismay of the fans, they were still not an official couple. Neither of them ended up confessing to the other person, and things were still left up in the air, even whenMy Hero Academiawas winding down. This was something that the fans did not like, because after spending years upon years waiting for a relationship to take place when the author was slowly building up towards it, and then seeing it not come to fruition is certainly frustrating.
Of course, fans should not expect romance to be the priority. However, action isn’t the only thing that makes a shonen Story. Everything that happens around the action is important as well, and here, this budding relationship between these two characters is important to the plot.Horikoshi certainly couldn’t nail it in the end. It was confirmed that they were not an official couple as nothing suggested otherwise. At the same time, there was no implication that either of them was dating someone else either. In other words, fans can simply infer that the author decided to leave it up to the interpretation of the readers and never truly followed up on what he set up in the story, which is, in many ways, jarring.
Ochaco As A Hero At The End Of MHA
WhileOchaco’s romantic endeavors did not bring the fruitsthat fans had hoped for, her journey as a hero certainly was very fun. Ochaco ended up becoming very powerful, and given her massive feats at the end of the story, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that she’s one of the strongest Heroes in the world right now. After the Awakening of her Quirk, she can save many people, and at the same time, fulfill her dream of aiding Heroes as well, especially when they are in dire need. Ochaco has done much more than just that, however. Fans know for a fact that Ochaco wants to work with Heroes, or, Hero aspirants. After the end of the war, and specifically after the timeskip, it was revealed that Ochaco started the Quirk Counseling Expansion Project, which is said to be one of the cornerstones of modern society inMy Hero Academia. This puts a major achievement to her name, and fans know that she is doing her utmost best to help as many people as possible.
Ochaco is likely helping Heroes all over the world, as well as civilians, who have various powers bestowed on them as well. She’s extremely important to the functioning of the current society and has revolutionized it in many ways.
As to whether this is a good end or not, fans need to look at it objectively. What she has done, in terms of achievements, is absolutely spectacular. However, fans do not need to hear these things from the author. They need to be shown these things. A character simply saying thatOchaco has many great achievements to her nameis not the same thing as the fans actually getting to see her reach that point and achieve those things within the story itself. There’s no denying the fact that Ochaco’s achievements are marvelous. However, the story conclusion for her would have been much better if fans actually got to see her accomplish all these things instead of simply being told.
