Summary

InNaruto, the main location that almost every party is fixated on is the Hidden Leaf Village; Konohagakure. This land is governed by the Hokage, who is generally considered to be the strongest Shinobi in this entire land of fire. There have been 8 in total and each has made their mark as a great character and a fierce protector of the village, but out of all of them, the Second Hokage, Tobirama Senju, may be the most underrated.

Throughout his tenure, he has made some of the most notable contributions tothe land of Konohagakurein terms of how it’s governed and how its society is kept. But on top of this, he has also created some of the best jutsus in the entire setting ofNaruto, so let’s go over the main techniques created by the Second Hokage and see why he is one of the best and most important characters in the entire series.

Notable Users

Tobirama, Minato, Boruto

Although this technique is synonymous withthe Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, it was actually created by Tobirama. This jutsu essentially has the user place a ‘seal’ on a person or object that can’t be removed from them, no matter what they do, and this seal essentially acts as a homing point for the user of the Flying Raijin Technique to teleport to at blinding speeds.

You know, the Fourth is using my move.

Like much of Tobirama’s techniques, this jutsu stemmed from his deep-seated hatred and mistrust of the Uchiha clan, since the Flying Raijin was essentially created as a counter to the Uchiha’s Sharingan, which could perfectly and accurately trace the enemy’s movements. By using the Flying Raijin Technique, the user would move faster than the Sharingan could track. After learning this move from the teachings of Tobirama, Minato eventually perfected it to be far faster and more potent, which earned him the title of the fastest Shinobi in history.

Tobirama, Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi

Similar to how the Flying Raijin became synonymous with Minato due to his frequent use of it, the same thing happened with theShadow Clone Jutsu after Naruto adopted it, using it very frequently throughout the entire series. Tobirama created this technique as well by using his Chakra to form many clones of himself that each had their own Chakra reserves as well, giving the user the ability to greatly outnumber their opponents upon performing a specific hand sign.

I came up with that jutsu! It’s my jutsu!

However, Tobirama forbade the use of this technique since the amount of Chakra required to make these clones is incredible, considering each clone has to have its own reserves as well, which can lead to the Shinobi’s death because of Chakra exhaustion. Just like the Flying Raijin, this was yet another technique created by Tobirama to disorient the Uchiha clan since their Sharigan can’t tell the difference between the original Shinobi and the clones that they’ve made due to them being exact copies.

Tobirama, Orochimaru, Kabuto

The greatest of all of Tobirama’s creations, the Edo Tensei is a technique that has seen quite a few uses throughoutNarutoand is considered by many to beone of the strongest jutsu in Shinobi history. Due to the immoral nature of this technique, Tobirama himself labeled it as forbidden and not to be replicated by anyone. The complicated procedures needed to use it served as even more of a barrier preventing people from learning it, although it was replicated successfully by Orochimaru and Kabuto.

That means your Edo Tensei has no hope of limiting my movements. After all, it is my jutsu.

The entire premise of the Edo Tensei is to bind the soul of a deceased person to a lifeless puppet with infinite Chakra to be controlled by the person who initiated the technique in the first place. During this time, the personality of the soul is retained, and they are forced to comply with all orders given to them by the user of the technique, although they still have some control over how they carry it out. However, at the strongest level, the personality is completely wiped out and the puppets are completely lifeless.
