The hit supernatural comedy, starring Jenna Ortega asWednesdayAddams, is set to return on August 6 for the first half of its second series, and now that a third run of episodes has already been announced, the show’s creators have teased how many more seasons fans could possibly expect to receive.
Starring Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley,Wednesdayseason 2 will also cast a magical spell on new cast member Lady Gaga, who will play Rosaline Rotwood, a legendary teacher at Nevermore Academy who crosses paths with Wednesday. Another new character,Grandmama Frump, is played by Joanna Lumley, who is the mother of Morticia Addams and Wednesday’s grandmother, who is described as “formidable”, “emotionally cold”, and “sharp-tongued”, someone (unsurprisingly) the stoic teenager looks up to.Wednesdayseason 2’s most recent trailer shows off the macabre character at an airport, either coming back from somewhere warm since Thing had to pack its sunscreen, or traveling to somewhere important, but either way, fans can’t wait to dig into this “darker” return of the beloved series, with the hopes of many more installments yet to come.
Netflix’s Wednesday Could Run for Seven Seasons
With a third season already on the horizon and a potentialWednesdayseries spin-off, fans have never been so confident that the complex and unusual Addams Family will be on their screens for a lot longer than they ever imagined. According toThe Hollywood Reporter, in an interview with Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega,Wednesday’s showrunners, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, teased that they are hopeful that Wednesday’s enrollment will continue “through the character’s Nevermore tenure, which lasts seven years (or seasons).”
However, in the same interview, Burton and Ortega remained tight-lipped about what they thought about the future of the show, revealing that nothing is ever set in stone. When it comes to the future ofWednesdayand further seasons, producer Tim Burton insisted nothing is set in stone. “I don’t think that way,” said Burton about the possibility of more seasons. “You’re talking to two of the worst people to ask that question.” Burton also let slip a little unknown fact aboutWednesday’s world-famous dance in season 1, revealing that Ortega had COVID as she performed the spell-binding routine, making the strange dance even more iconic than it ever was before due to the star’s perseverance.
It’s completely understandable why Netflix would want spin-offs and even moreWednesdayseasons after its third outing.The series has been a massive success for the streamer, with season 1 becoming the most-viewed English-language series on the platform, surpassing the previous record held byStranger Things 4. It’s likely fans will hear more about Wednesday’s potential spin-offs later this year, but for now, part one of season 2 will premiere on August 6th, 2025, followed by part two on September 3rd, 2025.
