Summary
A new mod forFallout 4has finally added ladders, a highly-requested feature by players of the game. While it may seem as though this is quite a smallFallout 4mod, it adds a new layer of verticality to the wasteland in Bethesda’s iconic RPG.
Although the game is almost nine years old now,Fallout 4’s modding scene is better than ever. Talented modders continue to create awesome content for the game, with therecent release ofFallout: Londonsetting a new standard when it comes to large mods in particular. It is impressive how modders continue to push the boundaries for what is possible in the game, and there’s certainly no sign of this ending any time soon, especially as the wait for a brand-new mainlineFalloutgame looks to extend a few more years yet.
The mod is titled “Climb the Commonwealth,” and can be found onNexus Modsfrom user BadgerBomb2077. Its functionality is simple - it adds the climbable ladders seen inFallout: Londonto the base game ofFallout 4, which is a feature many have been asking for from Bethesda for years. It’s a greatquality-of-life mod forFallout 4, which should massively improve immersion in the Commonwealth. Small mods like this can really add up in a load order to create a really unique experience.
Fallout 4 Mod Adds Ladders
As of right now, “Climb the Commonwealth” isn’t fully complete despite being available on Nexus Mods. It currently only includes the area around Vault 111 and Concord, although BadgerBomb2077 will be updating the mod whenever new areas are complete, with the entire Commonwealth currently in the works. They have confirmed that they won’t be adding their ladders toFallout 4’s settlements, as other mods already have this functionality. Crucially, this mod doesn’t break precombines, which is one of the biggest conflict problems when it comes toFallout 4environment mods.
The modding community has played a big role in keepingFallout 4alive over the last few years. While it’s known now thatBethesda wants to release games at a quicker rate, a new mainlineFalloutgame is nowhere to be seen, and the ongoing development ofThe Elder Scrolls 6makes it unlikely to arrive any time soon. It remains to be seen if Bethesda decides to hand off the IP to another studio in the meantime, although until anything is confirmed, this is pure speculation.
