Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket​'s new set is gearing up to introduce a pair of new cards that could turn the game’s meta on its head. The massively popular mobile version has seen a plethora of different decks dominate the game’s online battle modes, highlighted by plenty of powerful Pokemon. Cards like Celebi ex, Articuno ex, and Sylveon ex among others have helped to define the competitive meta for the mobile trading card game. Now,Pokemon TCG Pocket’s next set may introduce another powerful combo of Pokemon to the game.

Pokemon TCG Pocketofficially unveiled the newest set coming to the mobile TCG last week, with"Wisdom of Sea and Sky" whisking playersto the Johto region. The expansion will introduce new cards for several Pokemon originally appearing inPokemon Gold and Silver, including Umbreon, Espeon, and Cleffa.Pokemon TCG Pocketwill also introduce some new cards based on trainers from Johto, like a Supporter Trainer card of Lyra. The set’s cover cards may now be uniquely positioned to shake upPokemon TCG Pocket’s meta.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s newest set brings a pair of cover cards that could make a huge impact on launch. Lugia ex features one attack, with Elemental Blast dealing a staggering 180 damage at the cost of discarding a Water, Fire, and Lightning Energy attached to it. Ho-Oh ex, on the other hand, needs only 3 Colorless Energy to use its Phoenix Turbo attack to attach the same three types of Energy. The two legendary birds will be able to work together, withHo-Oh ex able to constantly reload Energiesonto Lugia.

Pokemon TCG Pocket’s new cover cards look to provide an incredibly tight resource loop for players using the Johto birds. Ho-Oh’s Phoenix Turbo attack can be set up as early as Turn 3, allowing players to load up Lugia to swing for devastating damage. The 180 damage from Lugia’s Elemental Blast is notably high enough to knock out any Pokemon currently inPokemon TCG Pocketwith a single attack.Pokemon TCG Pocket’s “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansionwill officially make its debut later this week on July 30.
