That number has since grown, as reports state thatthe Switch 2 has sold over 6 million units as of July 24. The Switch 2 was made following the success of its predecessor, with a focus on more powerful hardware and improved control schemes. Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles Can Overheat in Summer Temperatures
Following theJuly 31 Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase, Nintendo issued a warning that all Switch and Switch 2 users should note down.As spotted by Insider Gaming, the Nintendo Support Twitter feed stated that the Switch and Switch 2 can malfunction in environments above 35°C (95°F) and below 5°C (41°F), and encouraged users to take caution when playing outdoors. Nintendo cited a recent heat wave in Japan that has seen temperatures go near or above 35°C, with heat indexes reaching higher temperatures. Ergo, playing in an air-conditioned environment and staying safe during hazardous weather conditions is recommended.
To avoid overheating their Switch 2 consoles, users should place them in a well-ventilated area. Although the Switch 2 does not have a way tocheck the CPU temperatureswithin the console’s user interface, a good rule of thumb is to keep the console on top of an entertainment center or a desk when docked, and not inside a space that traps any excess heat. Given that the Switch 2’s dock has an additional fan to keep the system cooled, giving it enough space to take in cool air is highly recommended.
As of August 3, prices on original Switch consoles and accessories have gone up in the US. Given thatprices on Switch 2 consoles and games might risein the future, users should exercise due caution to avoid costly repairs or replacements.
