GBA previously held the record for fastest-selling gaming console in Japan since 2001. Other consoles that have been outpaced by the Switch 2 include the PS5, which sold approximately 3.4 million units globally in its first month, and the PS2 and Nintendo DS, which both sold over 1 million systems in Japan within one month of launch.
