Summary

In a series likeOne Piecewhere most characters can throw out deadly and explosive projectiles thanks to their Devil Fruits, it can definitely help to have an ability which allows someone to take to the skies to avoid incoming damage. At the same time, having a fruit which enables a character to lift themselves up from the ground also gives them an easy way to scope out the battlefield and pick their next target, especially if they also pair this with some Observation Haki.

Throughout the story ofOne Piece, there have been plenty of Devil Fruits which have allowed the users to take flight, but in terms of how reliable and effective these actually are in practice, this can vary quite drastically between each ability. Being able to fly is one thing, but if a fruit is versatile enough to also add some extra buffs, such as an attack boost or the integration of an element, it can go a long way in making it even more difficult for enemies to deal with. When taking all this into account, these are the very best flying Devil Fruit abilities seen inOne Piecebased on their strength, speed, and versatility.

7Spin Spin Fruit

Buffalo Can Turn Himself Into A Portable Shuttle To Give His Allies A Ride Across The Skies

From a visual perspective, Buffalo has one of the mostbizarre-looking Devil Fruitsin the series, but that doesn’t take anything away from its usefulness in battle. During the Dressrosa arc, Buffalo was using this fruit to transport his family members from A to B, and while it’s not quite as lightning fast as some of the other flyers, he can still keep up a pretty steady pace to avoid any deadly projectiles being launched his way.

As a bonus, Buffalo is also able to deal some damage of his own by using the rotor blades that launch from his body to slice and dice his opponents, though getting close enough to accomplish this is far from easy. Overall, this is a fairly basic Devil Fruit which isn’t all that complicated, but it’s still very useful for getting Buffalo and the Doflamingo pirates into the air to scope out the area without being spotted.

6Gas Gas Fruit

Caesar has The Perfect Way To Both Deal Damage And Escape If Things Get Too Hairy

Just as the name implies, Caesar Clown’s Gas Gas fruit allows the sadistic scientist to turn themselves into a gas-like form whenever he pleases. Because of his cowardly nature, Caesar will often use this in order to escape from adifficult battle, especially considering it allows him to not only fly, but also let out poisonous fumes while making a getaway after it’s been modified.

At the same time, though, he can also use it offensively by filling a room full of gas to disorientate a batch of enemies, and considering this is a Logia fruit, it makes it extremely difficult to actually pin him down when he’s flying around a room. Those who possess strong enough Armament Haki will eventually be able to defeat Caesar, considering he’s not all that fast, but the fact that he is still able to propel himself upwards and stay afloat for as long as he wants still makes this a rather useful Devil Fruit, especially for someone as timid and cowardly as he is.

5Tweet Tweet Fruit, Model: Falcon

Pell Soars Through The Skies At Blistering Speeds Before Launching A Deadly Attack

Zoan Devil Fruits are known for being some of the strongest abilities in the series, and while Pell’s falcon form may look a little weak and uninteresting on the surface, he has been able to utilize it in some pretty unique ways to help out his allies. After turning into a falcon, Pell is capable of reaching some frankly staggering speeds when shooting through the sky, to the point where he was even able to carry a bomb far away enough fromAlabastato avoid collateral damage, before then flying back with his life still intact.

Considering he’s a falcon, he’s also capable of using his razor-sharp talons to slash anyone that he regards as a threat to his kingdom and king, making him a deadly combatant when he decides to spread his wings. Pell did a great job at emphasizing why flying Devil Fruit users tend to be regarded as so powerful, considering he managed to pull off some pretty impressive feats back in the Alabasta arc.

4Smoke Smoke Fruit

Smoker Can Get A Bird’s Eye View Of A Pirate Before Apprehending Them

Just like Caesar, Smoker is another character who possesses aLogia Devil Fruitthat gives him the ability to fly. By turning his lower body into smoke and shooting himself up into the air, Smoker is able to glide around the environment like nobody’s business, giving him the opportunity to not only get a bird’s eye view of the area, but also to avoid picking up any nasty injuries by bobbing and weaving his way around his opponent.

Because of how accustomed Smoker is at actually using the ability, he has been able to cook up some pretty deadly attacks that he can use while remaining in the sky. For example, he is able to surround a target with a mist of thick intangible smoke before then solidifying it to grab them, which is a technique he has used numerous times throughout the series. As Luffy came to find out first-hand early in the story, knocking Smoker out of the sky is far from easy, especially for those who aren’t yet comfortable using Armament Haki.

3Dragon Dragon Fruit, Model: Pteranodon

Barely Anyone Can Keep Up With King When He’s Moving At Full Speed

Not just anyone can become aYonko commander, as these positions are reserved for only the strongest pirates who have proven their unwavering loyalty to their masters. In the case of King, while he was determined to do everything he could to continue Kaido’s reign of terror across Wano, the main reason the mighty Yonko took him onboard, aside from his unique lineage, was because of his absurdly powerful Devil Fruit ability. After transforming into a Pteranodon, King becomes an unstoppable powerhouse who is strong enough to push Big Mom’s entire ship off of Wano with a single strike.

The reason King generates so much power is because he’s able to move at an incredible pace when in the sky, before then plummeting his durable beak into his target to finish them off once and for all. King is such a difficult opponent to take out in the sky that even Zoro had trouble finding a way to defeat him, and while he is far from invincible, he’s definitely one of the strongest characters in the series so far, and a lot of that is thanks to his flying Devil Fruit ability.

2Kaido

Being Able To Fly Is Only The Beginning, As There’s A Lot More To This Powerful Ability

Kaido already looks like an unbeatable powerhouse in his regular form, but he becomes a whole lot more dangerous once he transforms into the legendary Azure Dragon. One aspect of this Devil Fruit transformation that separates it from the other abilities seen on this list isKaido’s size, as when he decides to lift himself up into the air with his Flame Clouds, his body is so enormous that he is able to effortlessly crush entire buildings and towns just by brushing past them.

If Kaido wants to deal a little more destruction, though, he is also capable of firing out giant flame blasts to decimate anyone who dares to stand up to him. This isn’t even mentioning Kaido’s durability in this form, which is so tough that only two characters have ever been able to land a scar on him, despite the countless times that people have tried to kill him for good. Needless to say, this is an extremely powerful ability which allows the user to not only fly, but also become a ferocious force of power and destruction in the process.

1Marco

Marco Can Fly, Heal, And Deal Damage All With A Single Devil Fruit

Talk about versatile, Marco’sMythical Zoan Devil Fruitreally can do it all. On the one hand, by turning into a glistening Phoenix, Marco can greatly enhance his speed and durability when unleashing his fiery blue wings, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg of what this fruit entails. Contrary to popular belief, Marco’s flames can also deal at least some level of damage, as was shown when he used them to overpower Big Mom’s Homie, Prometheus.

In stark contrast, though, these special flames also have healing properties, so when Marco takes to the skies, he can shoot over to an injured ally at a moment’s notice to get them back up to speed by healing pretty much any kind of wound in mere seconds. A prime example of just how formidable Marco is in this form came in the Wano arc when he was able to fend off two Yonko Commanders at the same time, highlighting just how much time and effort he has put into mastering this immensely strong Devil Fruit power.
