What makesOne Piecedifferent from other shonen manga is how it handles world-building. Eiichiro Oda plans every single chapter meticulously, which is why it’s almost impossible to find a single plot hole in One Piece.
The author has a habit of expanding on a character’s past only when it’s relevant to the current arc. Recently, Oda revealed the face of Rocks D. Xebec, which led to the beginning of many speculations, and one of them was tied to his other son.
Rocks D. Xebec’s Son Has Been Revealed
Rocks Is The Father Of Blackbeard
In One Piece Chapter 1154, it was confirmed that Rocks D. Xebec is Blackbeard’s father. However, the reveal didn’t come as a shock to most fans because Blackbeardbeing the son of Rocks was apopular theory. After all, Blackbeard named his ship “Saber of Xebec,” which implied that there was some connection between the two pirates.
One Piece Chapter 1154 confirmed the fan theory, but it also raised many more questions about Rocks and his past. Fans want to know his origins, what propelled him to become the king of the world, and how he met Blackbeard’s mother. Hopefully, Eiichiro Oda will answer these questions and more in the next few chapters.
Buggy Might Be Rocks D. Xebec’s Other Son
Buggy And Rocks Share A Few Similarities
Presently, there are debates within the One Piece community about Rocks' other son. There is no clearindication that Rocks has another son, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. Most theories suggest that Buggy is also Rocks' son for three main reasons. Firstly, Buggy is 39 years old, which means that he was born before the God Valley Incident, so it’s entirely possible that Rocks fathered him.
Another piece of evidence that has been used to support the theory is the bounty posters. Both Rocks and Buggy have nearly identical posters. Buggy has his mouth open with his tongue out, and it looks like he’s trying to grab something with his hand. Rocks' poster is almost a carbon copy, with the only exception being his hand’s position. Buggy’s hand is on the left side of his picture, while Rocks' is on the right. This could be considered far-fetched, but Oda has a history of putting in small clues like these before finally making a big reveal.
Fans didn’t think much of Oda’s decision to makeBuggy one of the new Yonko, but looking back, it is clear that the author was laying the groundwork for a massive reveal down the line. After all, he wouldn’t make just anybody one of the Yonko.
Buggy Belongs To One Of The Most Special Lineages In One Piece
If the evidence is to be believed, then it’s possible that Buggy is the son of Rocks D. Xebec, making him an extra-special pirate. As a direct descendant of the Rocks,Buggy is also a member of the D family. Anyone associated with the family is said to be the enemy of ‘gods,’ or the Celestial Dragons.
Buggy’s lineage also means that he could have Conqueror’s Haki. Buggy may be a coward, but he still has a lot of people who believe his every word. In fact, it isn’t too different from Luffy’s ability to turn enemies into friends. It is also worth mentioning that the Gorosei said that Blackbeard belongs to a special lineage, likely because they knew about his connection with Rocks. If Buggy shares the same DNA, then he is also a part of the same special lineage. Furthermore, Buggy being the son of Rocks will affectthe way fans see the Yonko. He will no longer be treated as a comic relief character.
You’re not who I thought you were, Shanks… Aren’t you gonna be the king of the next generation?! I thought Captain Roger’s wish was for you to follow on his footsteps! —Buggy
Buggy will also have a big role in the Final Saga of One Piece. Buggy has already expressed his desire to claim the One Piece. Despite being badly beaten by Crocodile and Mihawk, he went ahead with his decision because of his desire to beat Shanks to the treasure. Moreover, this proves that Buggy is not entirely a coward, and he is willing to risk his life for his goals.
