Devil Fruitsvary in strength and ability. Many seem undeniably powerful, especially when looking at the specific power the user gains from said Devil Fruit. Some Devil Fruits entail elemental abilities, like being able to create, control, and become fire and magma. Others allow the user to transform into an animal such as a jaguar or a wolf, or one that went extinct long ago, such as a dinosaur.

Yet for all the undeniably impressive powers, there are ones that don’t sound as immediately powerful without further explanation. However, these abilities can also be among the most devastating, especially if the users know how to set them up properly. These are some shockingly powerful Devil Fruits.

Doru Doru no Mi

The Power of Wax

The Doru Doru no Mi allows its user to emit and control wax. This ability is perfect for elaborate candle creation, but that is ultimately just one of its many uses. Galdino, the man who ate the Doru Doru no Mi, is a highly intelligent criminal, capable of intricately shaping the wax into a variety of practical forms. A common use in direct combat is to shape it into a sharp weapon, such as a sword or harpoon. However, physical combat is not Galdino’s forte.

He is additionally capable of turning it into a durable home, a key (molded to fit a designated lock by putting the wax inside it), and various forms of restraint, at least one of which is itself capable of killing people autonomously. Galdino is also shown to be capable of creating accurate copies of his body. However, to become convincing, these copies required the painting expertise of his former partner in Baroque Works, Marianne (Miss Goldenweek). The wax is physically durable enough to accommodate these various forms and functions. Galdino also used it to power his personal ship, in essence affixing himself to its ability to travel.

His most powerful known candle ability is a desperation move called Candle Champion. This ability coats Galdino in armor, which resembles a robot boxer. It heavily increases both his attack and defense. The Devil Fruit does have one strange caveat though. It lights a fire atop the user’s head, which, if allowed to spread, can melt most of the wax structures. Luffy andUsopptook advantage of this during their fight against Mr. 3 and some of his colleagues, where Luffy used the fire to light an oil-soaked rope Usopp ordered Karoo to drag around one of Mr. 3’s wax sculptures, causing a massive explosion.

Hito Hito no Mi

The Might of a Human

The Hito Hito no Mi allows its user to transform into a human. This seems especially pathetic in the wider context of the series. As far as most species inOne Piecewith comparable intellect are concerned, they are on average one of the weakest, with the least amount of innate power or ability. Incidentally, they also make up the majority of known Devil Fruit consumers, opening the potential for redundancy.

That said, if eaten by an animal, it can become an oddly gratifying ability.Tony Tony Chopper, formerly a neglected reindeer, became capable of learning medical science well enough to become a doctor. He is also able to act as a translator between humans and animals, as he is now technically a part of both species. Furthermore, he augmented the shape-shifting powers of this Devil Fruit with his own invention, the Rumble Ball, which allows him to transform into a variety of beneficial forms, each focused on an asset, such as strength, speed, or intelligence.

People have floated the possibility of the Hito Hito no Mi being incorrectly classified to prevent humans from eating it, potentially being the un-awakened form of a much stronger Devil Fruit, as most other variants of the Hito Hito no Mi allow their users to become powerful, mythical beings. That said, there is no concrete evidence to directly support this theory, but even as is, the Hito Hito no Mi has proven extremely beneficial for Chopper.

Awa Awa no Mi

Soap Bubble Savagery

The Awa Awa no Mi allows its user to emit and control soap bubbles. Aside from potential eye irritation and an increased level of cleanliness, the extent to which this has efficacy as an attack is highly questionable. However, the cleanliness of soap extends beyond conventional grime, and can be used to scrub an opponent’s strength. This ability itself is improved further by Kalifa’s cunning.

Kalifa has been shown tricking opponents into lowering their guard. When Nami saw her bathing, which made her question if she was even taking the battle seriously, seeing as Devil Fruit users are neutralized by water, she neglected to notice a bubble trap Kalifa had set, that she walked into, scrubbing away her energy. Kalifa also uses the Awa Awa no Mi’s powers in combination with herRokushiki techniques, allowing her to capitalize on her might while reducing her opponent’s strength.

Wara Wara no Mi

A Literal Straw Man

The Wara Wara no Mi is a Devil Fruit that allows its user control over straw, which is, in essence, dried grain stalks. While straw itself is commonly used as fodder, it has even more applications than one might think initially. Hawkins can embed the surrounding straw to become a scarecrow-like monster with sharp nails. He can also create a similar sort of straw being which he controls remotely with his tarot cards.

Yet arguably Hawkins' most impressive technique revolves around straw dolls he can create. These dolls are essentially voodoo dolls representing others that Hawkins embeds within himself. They lead those who they are tied to suffer damage in the place of Hawkins. These dolls will sometimes be expelled at the first sign of damage, yet for those with stronger constitutions they may endure a bit longer. Hawkins uses this to his advantage, as he repeatedly harmed himself while tying a doll toEustass Kidto damage his foe repeatedly.

Ito Ito no Mi

Strength of String

The Ito Ito no Mi is a Devil Fruit that allows its user to control strings they can create. It should be noted that these strings are heavily durable, protrude from anywhere on the user’s body, and are versatile regarding what they can control.Donquixote Doflamingoconsumed this Devil Fruit as a ten-year-old, and has had decades of experience using it up to the present day. His signature attack is known as Parasite, which allows him to latch his strings onto the bodies of his victims and puppeteer their actions. He is shown to be capable of controlling many victims at once through this method, with no visible strain on himself.

Beyond that, his string is used in direct combat as a physical attack, as seen with techniques like Overheat, Bullet String, and Pentachromatic Strings. He is also able to latch onto objects that are not fully tangible, such as clouds, which he can hold onto for an aerial boost. He is capable of making an identical clone of himself, through a technique identified as Black Knight. This convincing clone is composed entirely of compressed string. One of his strongest attacks is the Birdcage, which can physically slice anything in its path, whilst surrounding the width of Dressrosa itself. His strings can also take root in his internal organs, allowing him to quickly heal from otherwise fatal injuries.

Adding to the already surprising might of string, Doflamingo has awakened the Ito Ito no Mi, becoming the first known Devil Fruit user in the series to have awakened their power. This ability allows Doflamingo to turn his surroundings into strings as well, giving him significantly more material for physical attacks.

Kuri Kuri no Mi

Not So Sweet Cream

The Kuri Kuri no Mi allows its user to create and control cream. This soft dairy product is not a substance typically thought of in a battle context. But in the context of the Kuri Kuri no Mi, cream is a potentially lethal method of attack. The sugar from this cream is capable of causing severe burns in the second or third degree. Charlotte Opera can dispense his cream, but is also covered with it, similar to how Magellan utilizes poison from the Doku Doku no Mi.

This opens up the possibility for the cream to act as a sort of armor for him, preventing people from wanting to touch him for fear of getting burned. That said, there are methods to bypass his cream. Jinbe, who makes use of his water in his Fish-Man Karate attacks, is able to dillute the cream enough, and easily attack Opera while disabling his primary means of doing so.

Mochi Mochi no Mi

Just Desserts

In practice, the techniques of the Mochi Mochi no Mi are comparable to the Gomu Gomu no Mi. Yet while the Gomu Gomu no Mi was revealed to secretly embody a mythological hero, there have been no such revelations for the Mochi Mochi no Mi. There is no confirmation that the power behind it is anything but an intense amount of mochi. Mochi is a Japanese dish made of glutinous rice. It is used in various types of foods, often dessert products, such as cakes, ice cream, and more recently, donuts. The Devil Fruit, however, is still unique, even for what is ostensibly a Paramecia.

It has Logia-like properties, allowing its user to become mochi paste after being damaged, provided a counter-measure such as Armament Haki or Seastone isn’t used. The paste is malleable, and can be utilized as a restraint or shield, in various forms.Charlotte Katakuricommonly uses it in combination with armament haki, giving it a solid form and damaging properties. Additionally, Katakuri has awakened the Mochi Mochi no Mi, allowing his surroundings to also become mochi paste. Katakuri typically uses an array of mochi molded into arms, further hardened by Armament Haki, turning his mochi paste into a flurry of fists he can launch at his foes.
