Wuchang: Fallen Feathersmay look like a typical Soulslike on the surface, but it actually has a surprising amount of depth and variety beneath the surface that others in the genre rarely attain. With dozens of armor sets, weapons, and spells to choose from, as well as a massive skill tree that allows players to respec for free as often as they want to, it’s a playground of possibilities when it comes to playstyle. However, even with all that variety, it’s possible to get throughWuchang: Fallen Featherswithout taking advantage of most of it, and one of the best examples of that is its Vorpal Blade spell.
There are multiple reasons why Vorpal Blade is one of the best spells inWuchang: Fallen Feathers, so it doesn’t solely boil down to the spell’s damage output or cost of use. Rather, it is all of these things and more that makes Vorpal Blade such a strong addition to anyone’s build. In reality, it has the potential to be the one thing players use more than anything else in the game, effectively making them a one-trick pony in the process. It doesn’t trivialize the other spells andweapons inWuchang: Fallen Feathersby any means, but it does make a strong case for rarely exploring other builds.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers' Vorpal Blade Spell Is Almost Too Good
Vorpal Blade Is Cheap and Effective
In the end, what truly sets Vorpal Blade apart from otherspells inWuchang: Fallen Feathersis the combination of its cost and effectiveness. Considering the game’s premise, which involves an amnesiac pirate who has been afflicted with a strange disease known as the “Feathering” that gives her strange powers, magic and spell-casting are almost encouraged, and the game therefore has plenty of spells for players to use. None of these spells hold a candle to Vorpal Blade, though, which is not only the very first spell players are guaranteed to unlock, but also the cheapest spell to use that still deals decent damage.
Unlike most of the other spells inWuchang: Fallen Feathers, Vorpal Bladeonly costs one Skyborn Might — the game’s currency for ability usage. However, Skyborn Might is generally acquired by executing a Perfect Dodge in the game (although players can generate it less efficiently in other ways), which means it requires a bit of skill to get a solid rhythm of acquisition and use going. With some spells costing two, three, and upwards of five Skyborn Might, then, Vorpal Blade stands tall as a spell that can be used repeatedly and often, depending on how players have Wuchang built.
In the end, what truly sets Vorpal Blade apart from other spells inWuchang: Fallen Feathersis the combination of its cost and effectiveness.
To top it all off, Vorpal Blade actually does decent damage, especially if players invest in upgrading Wuchang’s Magic stat on the skill tree. As a Magic-based, rather than Feathering-based, spell, Vorpal Blade’s effectiveness is enhanced as players increaseWuchang’s Magic stat, and its power can increase even more with certain weapons, Benedictions, and Pendants equipped. In fact, Vorpal Blade can take out most enemies in two or three casts if they have Wuchang’s build geared toward Magic, all before those enemies even have a chance to land one of their attacks thanks to its range.
Even Bosses Can Be Taken Out With a Combination of Vorpal Blade and Patience
It’s even possible to defeat many ofWuchang: Fallen Feathers' bossesusing only Vorpal Blade if players have the patience. While they might prefer to play more aggressively in order to speed things along, they are subjecting themselves to a possible death in doing so. Instead, Vorpal Blade encourages players to maintain distance between themselves and the boss on the battlefield, all while using Vorpal Blade whenever possible. This often keeps them out of harm’s way or at least gives them enough time to measure a boss' attack and respond accordingly. In the meantime, Vorpal Blade can chip away at their health bar.
