At the time the originalResident Evilwas confirmed for GOG, it was also revealed that there were plans to revive the OGResident Evil 2andResident Evil 3: Nemesisas well.
Resident Evilenthusiasts are still waiting to hear when exactly they’ll be able to playResident Evil 3: Nemesisagain, but they can now safely mark their calendars forResident Evil 2. As confirmed by Capcom and GOG,theResident Evil 2re-release will be available on August 27. Like with the first game,Resident Evil 2will feature “compatibility with modern systems” and “full modern controller support” with additional but unspecified quality-of-life improvements as well. It’s unclear if the original version ofResident Evil 2will make its way to other platforms, so anyone interested will have toplay it on PC through GOGfor now.
When is Resident Evil 2 Coming to GOG?
Capcom has a tendency to release multiple versions of its games, and the same holds true forResident Evil 2. Considering this, some may be wondering which version ofResident Evil 2is coming to the platform on August 27. It’s been confirmed that theResident Evil 2GOG port is based on the 1999 Windows 98 versionof the survival-horror game as opposed the 2006 Windows XP version that featured higher-quality cutscenes. This may be a disappointment for some fans, but it’s unlikely to be a deal-breaker for nostalgicREenthusiasts who are excited about a return trip to Raccoon City.
The originalResident Evilgame hit GOG in June, and so if that pattern holds up, fans should be able to expectResident Evil 3: Nemesisto be available in October or thereabouts. All three games can be purchased individually for $9.99 a pop, but fans also have the option of paying $24.99 for the entireclassicResident Eviltrilogy.
