Overwatch 2has officially confirmed a collaboration with Nerf is coming on August 5, with a reveal trailer planned to air on August 4 at 9 AM PT. After plenty of teasers over the last month,Overwatch 2is finally pulling back the curtain on the second crossover event of Season 17.

The collaborations forOverwatch 2Season 17 began withG.I. Joe, featuring themed cosmetics for Genji, Freja, Reaper, Doomfist, and Widowmaker. However, teasers for anunannounced crossover betweenOverwatch 2and Nerfwere spotted in the Season 17 trailer, and later scattered around various maps.

Now,Overwatch 2has confirmed this collaboration is real, shared when fans can expect to find out more about it, and even revealed a start date. A new gameplay trailer for the Nerf crossover has been scheduled on the officialOverwatch 2YouTube account. The video is planned to go live on August 4 at 9 AM PT/12 PM ET, and is expected to show off the contents of the collab ahead of the event, which starts on August 5.

Overwatch 2 x Nerf Collab Begins August 5

While there is no telling exactly what this crossover will entail, the scheduled trailer itself holds a few clues. The description says players will be able to “bring your favorite blasters to the battlefield,” suggesting the Nerf event will likely involve weapon skins, rather than hero skins likepreviousOverwatch 2collaborations. Considering Hasbro actually released a bunch of real-lifeOverwatchNerf guns in the past, it would not be a stretch of the imagination to see these toys recreated in the FPS as weapon skins.

TheOverwatch 2x Nerf rumors may have finally been confirmed, but there are now plenty of other potential crossovers to fill that void. A recentOverwatch 2survey suggested almost three dozen other external IPsthat could be considered for collaborations, includingLeague of Legends,The Witcher, andJujutsu Kaisen. While there is no guarantee these crossovers may happen, the fact Blizzard brought them up at all is exciting.

There are a few other dates in August that fans will want to keep in mind as well. Junkrat’s Loot Hunt runs from August 1-3, the trail weekend for Wuyang –Overwatch 2Season 18’s new support hero– will take place August 14-18, Competitive Drives are from August 19-25, and Season 18 itself launches on August 26. Needless to say, it sounds like the end of summer will have a lot forOverwatch 2players to enjoy.
