Overwatch 2players will be well familiar with how the text channels work across group chat, team chat, and match chat. However, anyone who has been playing during Season 17 may also have begun to notice some strange occurrences happening in the text channels of their matches. Specifically, colored text, gradients, and even symbols and emojis have started to appear in player messages.

This undoubtedly left players wondering how such a feature is even possible. It has not been a feature in prior seasons, and nothing like that wasannounced for Season 17. If you find yourself curious about how players are creating these strange and entertaining text messages and how you may do so yourself, all relevant information has been outlined in the guide below.

How to Type Colored Text, Gradients, & Emojis in Overwatch 2

InOverwatch 2, incorporating colored text, text gradients, and symbols/emojis are all possible through the use ofhex codes. This is not usually available forOverwatch 2players, and has not beenan officially announced feature. This has left players speculating that this is likely a bug that appeared following a gameplay patch, that was not supposed to be accessible by users. For this reason, it is uncertain if the devs will choose to leave this feature for players to have fun with, remove it in a future patch or bug fix update, or instead choose to fully implement it for player enjoyment. If you’re looking to try it out while you still can, an explanation has been added below.

Hex codes can be copy pasted into the message bar to use inOW2. A list of different colors and symbols has been included below. Custom colors can be implemented by adding any color hex code, and gradients are created by using multiple hex codes across a single word.

To use these codes, you will need to add them inside angle brackets, as in:

If you have text-to-voice on, the bot will unfortunately read all letters/numbers of the hex code, so you may either want to turn this off or avoid using it for now.
