Summary
It seems thatOverwatch 2’s omission of new skins for heroes with Egyptian ties in its new Season 12 battle pass is causing some disappointment among fans. This isn’t the first timeOverwatch 2has missed the mark with its battle pass or shop skins, as it has regularly missed opportunities to give skins to heroes who were well suited for specific battle pass themes or events, such as an Echo skin for the Porsche collab, or a Reinhardt skin for Season 8’s Call of the Hunt theme.
Season 12 is set to make a big splash when it goes live on August 20. The new support hero, Juno, is already starting to become a fan-favorite after her trial weekend last month, andOverwatch 2is preparing to release an all-new game mode, named Clash, which will debut with two maps in Hanaoka and Throne of Anubis, an Egyptian-themed map. Season 12’s battle pass is also Egyptian-themed, giving heroes like Illari and Doomfist Egypt-inspired skins, whileReaper is set to receive his Mythic skin.
WhileOverwatch 2’s Season 12 is bringing a lot to the table, many fans seem disappointed over the fact that several of the roster’s Egyptian heroes aren’t involved in its Egyptian-themed battle pass. Ramattra, who’s initial design concepts were inspired by Egyptian Pharaohs, is one of the heroes fans are pointing towards as a missed opportunity. More glaringly, Ana and her daughter Pharah, both Egyptian, have been left out of the battle pass as well, although Pharah will have a new Egyptian-themed skin tucked away in the shop.
Overwatch 2’s Egyptian Heroes Don’t Have Battle Pass Skins In Season 12
Overwatch 2fans are also confused as to why Reaper is getting a Mythic skin this season. Ana already had her Mythic back in Season 6, but this would’ve been a perfect opportunity for Pharah to have her time in the limelight as the crown jewel of the Egypt-inspired battle pass. That said, Pharah already had a big spotlight as part of the Porsche event with D.Va earlier this year. Venture has also been the source of confusion for fans, asOverwatch2’s archaeologist explorerwould’ve made a perfect match for this season’s theme. However, asOverwatch 2’s latest hero up to this point, it’ll likely be another season or two before Venture’s skin wardrobe expands.
While Pharah and Ana do have new Egyptian cosmetics in this upcoming Season 12 in the form of a shop skin and weapon skin respectively, it’s clear that fans want the right heroes involved in the actual progression of the battle passes. WhetherOverwatch 2’s battle pass hero selection improves in the future will remain to be seen. Hopefully,Overwatch 2’s addition of Juno, Clash mode, and more will be enough to rectify this missed opportunity for Ana and Pharah fans.
