Frostmourne is coming toOverwatch 2as a part of aWorld of Warcraftcollaboration coming in Season 12, New Frontiers. While the scope and timing of this crossover is currently unknown,Overwatch 2players can expect to learn more some time after Season 12 begins on August 20.
Overwatch 2just shared a preview for New Frontiers, the 12th season of the first-person shooter. The update brings a slew of new content to the FPS, including balance changes, a Battle Pass refresh featuring the Anubis Reaper Mythic skin, the official launch of the Clash battle mode, and the release of Juno, the second hero to come out in 2024.
However, the Season 12 trailer also teased a newOverwatch 2collaboration with another popular Blizzard franchise. At the end of the short video, the screen pans over to the Antarctic Peninsula map, where fans can see the shadow of a figure off camera. Frostmourne, thelegendary weapon wielded by the Lich King inWorld of Warcraft, is then stabbed into the ground, implying it will be a part of an upcoming skin collaboration during the season.
Frostmourne is Coming to Overwatch 2 in Season 12
At the moment, it is hard to say exactly what thisWarcraftcrossover will entail. There could be one or more Legendary skins available in the shop, or possibly offers for Frostmourne as a new weapon skin. That said, the silhouette in the teaser looks a lot like Reinhardt, and he has already gotten multiple Legendary andMythic Weapon Skins inOverwatch 2, so it is hard to say. Either way, only Genji, Junker Queen, and Reinhardt use melee weapons with shapes similar to Frostmourne, so one of those heroes will likely be involved.
This isn’t the first timeWorld of Warcraftcosmetics have appeared inOverwatchandOverwatch 2. Tyrande and Sin’dorei Symmetra, Illidan Genji, Doomfist Blackhand, and Magni Torbjorn were previously available as BlizzCon rewards, loot box drops, orvia theOverwatch 2in-game shop, with the latter two skins currently still available via Overwatch Credits. Fans of bothWorld of WarcraftandOverwatch 2are excited to see more cosmetics inspired by the MMO make their way into the FPS, as they are often of exceptional quality and creativity.
World of Warcraftis invading another major Blizzard game right now, too.Diablo 4just released a set ofWoW-themed cosmeticsin the cash shop featuring outfits inspired by iconic characters like Sylvanas Windrunner and Xal’atath, plus the Celestial Steed mount.
