Summary
A prolificPokemonfan artist has recently designed a new demonic version of Shellder. ThePokemoncommunity loves to devise unofficial forms for iconic creatures, and this latest artwork is an example of how these works can look amazing.
Shellder is a Water-type creature originally introduced inthe first generation ofPokemongamesthat could be easily found in most of the aquatic areas ofPokemon Red and Blue. When exposed to a Water Stone, Shellder evolves into the Water/Ice-type Cloyster. However, the critter never received any official variants or new evolutions after its debut.
Now, aPokemonfan called Matratzfratz has devised an alternative demon-inspired version of Shellder called Hellder. This new form is a Fire/Dark-type Pokemon and still looks a lot like a regular Shellder, but it has a bi-forked tongue, two horns, and a red shell instead of a blue one. Overall, thePokemoncommunity liked Matratzfratz’s work, with most fans loving the creature’s name, and some people asking the artist to draw a hellish version of Cloyster next.
Pokemon Fan Designs Hellish Version of Shellder
Matratzfratz is a fairly prolificPokemonfan artist and often shares their work with the community. For example, he devised anancient Paradox form for Grovylecalled Old Wing last week. In this design, the fan reimagined the creature as a Flying-type monster inspired by a pterodactyl covered in brown, yellow, and auburn feathers. It was a pretty big departure from the original Pokemon’s design, but still a very interesting take on the original Grass-type monster.
Aside from Matratzfratz, other artists have already devised alternative takes on Shellder. For instance, aPokemonfan designed a regional variant for Shellder and Cloysterlast year. This alternative take on these creatures turned them into Ice/Poison-type monsters with a white shell with purple stripes and poisonous tongues.
While mostPokemonfans love to come up with regional variants or Paradox forms, some of them design even more unique new takes on the franchise’s monsters. For example, onefan has recently given Onix a D20-style makeover. In their amazing fan art, this player created an Onix made out of multi-sided blue dice, ranging from 4 to 20 sides. Even more talented fans will likely devise creative new versions of classicPokemonin the future, as the popularity of the franchise continues to be high over the years, and the next game in the franchise,Pokemon Legends Z-A, is already set to be released next year.
