Players who playPokemon GOon a Tuesday have the opportunity to partake in an event known as the Spotlight Hour, which Niantic hosts on a weekly basis. These Spotlight Hours usually take place between 6 and 7pm local time, and they give certain Pokemon increased spawn rates, as well as double bonuses. So far, this month’s Spotlight Hours have featured Pokemon like Party Hat Pikachu, Voltorb, and Hisuian Voltorb. The most recent of these events, though, highlighted a rather notable Pokemon. Those who checked outPokemon GOduring the Spotlight Hour on July 15 were able to obtain both the regular and Shiny variants of Feebas, in addition to a 2x Catch Candy bonus.
InPokemon GO, Feebas isn’t a particularly rare or powerful Pokemon. In fact, it has among the lowest maximum Combat Power out of any Pokemon in the game. That said, Feebas can evolve into the more highly-desired Pokemon, Milotic, if it is fed 100 candies and gets walked for at least 20 kilometers as a Buddy Pokemon. Like many ofPokemon GO’s evolved Pokemon, Milotic cannot be encountered in the wild, so players have no choice but to get a Feebas in order to add one to their collection. While this may seem like a demanding task, the requirements to get a Milotic and Feebas inPokemon GOare nothing compared to the requirements in the early mainlinePokemongames.
Compared to Pokemon GO, Feebas and Milotic Were Really Hard to Get in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire
Feebas Could Only Be Encountered Under Very Specific Circumstances in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire
Feebas and Milotic were originally introduced inPokemon Ruby and Sapphire,the Generation 3Pokemongamesthat were released for the Game Boy Advance. Despite being a relatively unassuming Pokemon, Feebas was oddly difficult to find in these games. The only place that it could appear, in fact, was Hoenn Route 119, the same route that’s home to the Weather Institute. Since Feebas is a Fish Pokemon, though, players could not encounter it in the tall grass; instead, they had to go fishing.
Although Route 119 has a large river in its center and, thus, a lot of places to fish in, there are only six fishing spots in this entire area that can contain a Feebas. Strangely,the six tiles that Feebas can appear inare dependent on a handful of unusual factors. The order of the six tiles, for example, is altered every time a player changes the “popular phrase” they say at Dewford Town. In addition to this, their placement is calculated based on a player’s in-game ID number. Regardless of the specifics, though, there is no way for players to find any clear indication as to where these six tiles are. Since Feebas do not have a 100% spawn rate in these particular areas, gamers have to spend a lot of time scouring Route 119’s fishing spots until they encounter them.
Some may think that capturing a Feebas is amongthe most difficult tasks inPokemon Ruby and Sapphire, but acquiring a Milotic is even more challenging. Since a Milotic cannot be obtained in the wild, the only way players can receive it is by evolving a Feebas that has a Beauty rating of at least 170. to increase the Beauty stat of their Feebas, players have to feed them Blue or Indigo Pokeblocks, a special type of food that is crafted with different kinds of Berries. Like with the other Pokemon in the games, players can only give their Feebas a maximum of 12 Pokeblocks. If their Feebas have an Impish, Careful, or Adamant personality trait, however, the Pokeblocks likely won’t be able to increase their Beauty stats by a significant margin, thus making it impossible for the Pokemon to evolve into Milotic.

Pokemon GO Handled Feebas and Milotic a Lot Better Than Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Did
