The first part ofPokemon GO’sannual Halloween event, beginning October 21, will introduce form-changing fun with the Generation 8 Pokemon Morpeko. Shortly after that, on October 26,Pokemon GOplayers will be able to encounter Gigantamax Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise and battle them at Power Spots. But the fun doesn’t stop there.

This year,Halloween inPokemon GOwill be a two-part event. The second part, which will kick off on October 28 at 10 am local time, will introduce adorable new costumed Pokemon, bring back costumed Pokemon from previous years, and allow players to challenge a new Gigantamaxed foe.

Froakie And Rowlett Don Adorable New Halloween Costumes

The tradition of Pokemon inPokemon GOdressing up for Halloween continues with Generation 6 Water-type starter Froakie andGeneration 7 Grass-type starter Rowlet. Froakie will be dressed in a witch’s hat, while Rowlet will look quite dapper in its new top hat. Both of 2024’s Costumed Pokemon will be able to evolve, and their evolutions - Frogadier, Greninja, Dartrix, and Decidueye - will still be dressed for the spooky season.

In addition, somecostumed Pokemonfrom previous years will be returning during the event, including some with boosted Shiny rates - although which ones has not been confirmed. Players who wish to encounter the costumed Pokemon early can purchase a time-limited event pass for either $2 or $5. Both include encounters with costumed Pokemon new and old, but the $5 ticket additionally allows players to receive an adorable Morpeko-themed outfit for their avatar.

Face Off Against Gigantamax Gengar In Spooky Battles

A newGigantamax Pokemonwill also be appearing at Power Spots during the second part of the Halloween event: Gigantamax Gengar, the iconic Ghost-type Pokemon. Players will be able to challenge Gengar at Power Spots in groups of 10-40 Trainers. Trainers lucky enough to conquer this tricky battle will be able to catch a Gigantamax Gengar for themselves; it can then be used to battle other Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon. Like itsPokemon Sword and Shieldcounterpart,Pokemon GO’sGigantamax Gengar will be able to make use of the powerful and unique Ghost-type G-Max Terror in battle.

“Trick Or Treat” For Candy On Halloween

In addition, players will be able to experience all the fun of Trick or Treat inPokemon GOon Halloween itself. All day on October 31st, Costumed Pokemon may be holding aRare Candy or Rare Candy XLwhen caught with a Nice Throw or better. This comes in addition to other Candy-related bonuses throughout the Halloween season, so players should keep an eye out.

The second part of 2024’sPokemon GOHalloween eventwill begin onOctober 28th at 10 am local time and conclude on November 3rd at 8 pm local time. In addition to the exciting news already shared here, the event will also feature boosted Shiny rates for Umbreon and Zorua, a Timed Research task focused on Spiritomb, increased appearance of certain Dark- and Ghost-type Pokemon both in raids and in the wild, and much more.

And, once Halloween is finished,Pokemon GOpromises to have much in store for the remaining two months of 2024. Dynamax Battles will continue, with newDynamax Pokemonlikely added in the future as the game switches from celebrating the spooky season to kicking off the festivities for all things winter. 2024 has been an action-packed year forPokemon GO,and developer Niantic seems to have no plans to slow down the pace moving into 2025.
