Player engagement inPokemon GOcontinues to be high in its eighth year as Niantic continues to release updates and limited-time events for the community to explore. The 2024Pokemon GOWorld Championships will be the next major event for the popular mobile title, with several rewards up for grabs in a limited window this coming weekend. Those who aren’t attending the event in person will be able to earn these rewards as well.
Niantic announced that exclusive Timed Research codes will be available in Twitch Drops to viewers who have watched at least 30 minutes ofthe 2024Pokemon GOWorld Championshipsbetween Friday, August 16, at 9:00 a.m. Hawaiian Standard Time (HST) and Monday, July 27, 2025, at 12:00 a.m. HST. Specifically, two Timed Research codes may be earned by watching the livestream directly on August 16 and 17, and the third and final Timed Research code may be earned by watching officialPokemon GOco-streamers on August 18 and 19.
The first code grants access to the Timed Research, called “Pokemon World Champion,” and its rewards include an Elite Charged TM and an encounter with a Sableye that knows the Fast Attack Shadow Claw and the Charged Attack Foul Play. Players level 31 and above who redeem this code will also receive one additional Candy XL for completing three-star Shadow Raids, with Shadow Sableye being one of the confirmed Pokemon that will appear in raids during the event.
2024 Pokemon GO World Championships Timed Research Can Only Be Earned in Twitch Drops
The second Timed Research, “Team Building: Great League,” will focus onthe basics of battling Pokemon inPokemon GO. Players who redeem this code may choose one of three Pokemon team options, which each have three guaranteed Pokemon encounters. Firstly, Team Option 1 includes Dunsparce, Mantine, and Pancham. Team Option 2 includes Galarian Weezing, Skorupi, and Chespin, and Team Option 3 includes Jigglypuff, Shellos, and Inkay. Redeeming the Timed Research code also rewards 8,500 Stardust.
Earning the third and final Timed Research code will award the player with a World Championships 2024 Pikachu, which has the chance of being a shiny variant. Additional rewards are included with the third Timed Research, but Niantic has not disclosed what these rewards are yet.Timed Research tasks typically offer more encounters inPokemon GO, so this could be one of the bonuses that will be offered. Moreover, all three Timed Research codes must be redeemed before August 26 at 11:59 p.m. UTC, and each code may only be redeemed once.
Pokemon GOplayers may also take part in a global celebration event and redeem another limited-time code that grants the 2024 Worlds Tee (White) for in-game avatars. Those attending the Pokemon GO 2024 World Championships in Honolulu will have access to a local Timed Research that acts as a scavenger hunt around the Hawaii Convention Center.
