Some fans think thatPokemon Legends: Z-Ais teasing two more Mega Evolutions in its character bios. Mega Evolution was first introduced inPokemon X and Yas a new type of temporary evolution where certain Pokemon can gain powerful new forms by being exposed to a certain item during battle. The mechanic hasn’t been a part of the mainPokemonseries since the Generation 7 games, but Mega Evolutions are coming back in a big way in the upcomingPokemon Legends: Z-A.

Nintendo has confirmed thatPokemon Legends: Z-Awill have brand-new Mega Evolutions, along with returning forms from previous games like Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Absol, and Mega Charizard X. The July 22 Pokemon Presents livestream highlighted a newMega Evolution in Mega Dragonite, an advanced version of the classic Generation 1 Dragon-type that incorporates features from its previous evolutions. Even wild Pokemon can gain Mega Evolutions inPokemon Legends: Z-A, though these Rogue Mega Pokemon are out of control and require intervention from the player and a new organization called Team MZ.

Character profiles for two supporting Team MZ members were shared by Twitter user CentroLeaks after they were officially revealed during thePokemon Legends: Z-Aportion ofthe July 22 Pokemon Presents. Linda is a dance school student who joins Team MZ in exchange for free lodging and is partnered with Generation 1’s Staryu, while Naveen is an aspiring fashion designer who fights alongside the Dark/Fighting hybrid Scraggy.

Pokemon Fans Think Legends: Z-A Will Introduce Mega Evolutions for Starmie and Scrafty

Some Twitter users have pointed out that Linda and Naveen seem to have Mega Stones on their wristbands, and since Team MZ seems centered around dealing with Mega Evolutions, it might not be outside the realm of possibility that their Pokemon partners will have some of their own. PastPokémon Legends: Z-Aleaks have suggested that newMega Evolutions could be introduced for Starmieand Scrafty, the fully evolved forms of Staryu and Scraggy, respectively.

Of course, this is all just speculation at this point. Still, there are plenty of existing Pokemon thathave yet to receive a Mega Evolution, and Starmie and Scrafty could very well get them if their earlier stages are playing such a big role inPokemon Legends: Z-A. If these rumors and speculations are true, then players might even get the chance to add Mega Starmie and Mega Scrafty to their own teams whenPokemon Legends: Z-Alaunches on both major Nintendo consoles on October 16.
