Pokemon’s recent massive leak continues to be a source of endless information about the franchise. Just about every game generation in thePokemonseries has been turned on its head, and there’s a gold mine of revelations to be had about theXandYtitles.

The main aggregator forthe majorPokemonleaks coming outcontinues to be Centro Leaks on X (formerly Twitter), the account at the center of this Teraleak. However, much of these leaks' preservation has been done by the Cutting Room Floor wiki. This is a wiki dedicated to cataloging scrapped material for games, and it’s been incredibly diligent about organizing this information.

What The October Teraleak Has Revealed About Pokemon X and Y

January 2013 Town Map, 2012 South Kalos

A version ofPokemon XandY’s Town Mapfrom January 2013, nine months before the games were released, surfaced as part of these leaks. The map, depicting the Kalos region’s northern half, is nearly identical to the version in the final game. Most noticeable, perhaps, is how Lumiose City’s final Poke Ball design is represented in a compressed, rough form. On further inspection, the earlier map also omits Sea Spirit’s Den, Kalos Power Plant, Lost Hotel, Terminus Cave, Chamber of Emptiness, Kiloude City, Connecting Cave, and Reflection Cave.

That’s hardly the wildest thing to relate to the Kalos region, however. Leakers discovered that another lost map, from a 2012 build, confirmed the existence ofKalos' southern half inXandY. The snapshot of the southern region features the mouse pointing to a location simply titled ‘town’ in Japanese, with text that roughly translates into a description of a cold, comfortable rural town. This is accompanied by a placeholder image of Kayserberg-Vignoble, a historical French town that fits the France-inspired Kalos Region. Many have guessed that this southern region would have been post-game content, given some fandom misgivings aboutXandY’s postgame, but that’s only speculation.

Early Pokemon Builds And Scrapped Mega Jynx

There’s amassive amount of detail in thePokemonleaksabout the early forms ofXandYPokemon. Many of these critters once had different types (such as Delphox originally lacking its Psychic type), different abilities (like Honedge and Doublade once having ‘Stance Change’ abilities), and/or a different name (such as Spritzee’s original Japanese name being ‘Toware,’ which roughly translates to ‘Toilette’).

One of the most interesting parts of these changes is what happened with Xerneas and Yveltal. Their original names (Eikusu and Wai) were translated to X and Y respectively. More curious is how these two creatures appear to have swapped roles during development; Xerneas was once a Dark type with a ‘Pressure’ ability, but in the final game is a Fairy type with a ‘Fairy Aura’ power. Likewise, Yveltal was originally a Fairy type.

Another discovery within this part ofthePokemonleaks is Mega Jynx, a scrapped Mega Evolution. Mega Jynx appears to have never received a 3D model, but leakers did discover some reference art, alongside stats, its Ice/Psychic types, and its Magic Guard ability.

Lady Gaga In The Audio Files

The wave of leaks has unearthed some interestingXandYaudio files, including Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” According to leakers and The Cutting Room Floor, this song was used to test audio streams. Less peculiar but equally intriguing is the use of audiofromPokemonBlackandWhite, with a number of direct rips/remixes of tracks from those games being used as placeholders. The audio leaks also revealed a number of prototype songs and sound effects, including early versions of Kanto’s “Legendary Battle” theme and the “Wild Pokemon Battle” theme. Of particular note is the insight that Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde were once poised to have unique themes, rather than one shared theme.
