MMORPGSkyforgeis shutting down on October 29. While that date will mark its absolute end-of-life moment,Skyforgewill already be gone from Steam by that point, and it’s only its PS4 port and other console versions that are planned to make it to fall 2025.

Skyforgeis a free-to-play MMO stemming from a collaboration betweenAllods Onlinedeveloper Allods Team and the award-winning Obsidian Entertainment. While it was met with lackluster reviews, it secured some genre-specific accolades in its early years, like winning the MMORPG of the Year award from MMOs.com. This was mere months after it was released for PC in summer 2015, and before it made its way to the PS4 in spring of the following year. Xbox One owners eventually got to playSkyforgebeginning in late 2017, with thelong-running MMORPGmost recently making its way to the Nintendo Switch, which it had reached in early 2021.

Skyforge Confirms Staggered Shutdown Plans

Nintendo’s hybrid console also ended up being the game’s final destination, as publisher Innova has justconfirmedthatSkyforgeis set to be shuttered in the weeks ahead. The PC version will be taken offline on September 3, whereas the console ports are planned to follow suit on October 29. The delay between the two events might explain why Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch owners can still downloadSkyforgeas of early August 2025. Meanwhile, the PC original has already been delisted from Steam and 4game.com on August 1. That’s also the day when Innova stopped accepting payments for in-game purchases, a standard industry practice forlive-service titles facing the axe.

Skyforge Lost Its PC Momentum Years Ago

While anyone who previously downloadedSkyforgeon a PC can keep playing it until the end, the fact that not many people are doing so right now is likely the chief reason the project is being shelved. Specifically, SteamDB estimates thatSkyforgepeaked at 16 concurrent players on Valve’s storefront since the start of August 2025.

With live-service projects requiring never-ending investments to keep players interested andSkyforgeseemingly losing all of its momentum, the IP holder ostensibly no longer sees a point in keeping the game going. After all,Skyforgehas been dead on Steam for yearsnow, with the last time it peaked at over 100 concurrent players being back in 2022. The MMO’s shutdown announcement did not include an official explanation for why the game is being shut down.
