Red Dead Redemptionhas a large open world map that has its south and north portions locked early on. After reaching and completing themissions in Mexico’s territory of Nuevo Paraíso, players will unlock the third section of the map, West Elizabeth, to access the Tall Trees region. This region isn’t as big as New Austin or Nuevo Paraíso but still contains some of the key missions leading to the game’s climax.
Players will be able to enter the Tall Trees area in the West Elizabeth regionafter completing the 41st story missioninRed Dead Redemptioncalled “An Appointed Time.” This is the final mission for the Nuevo Paraíso (Mexico) chapter and will let players start the West Elizabeth story missions in West Elizabeth.
An Appointed Time starts with John entering Escalera to see Reyes captured by the Mexican army and on the brink of execution. After saving himby winning a duel, John will head up to the prison to free the jailed prisoners and assault the fort on top of the hill.
Now, players musttake control of the Gatling gunand explode the gates covered in TNT by the Rebels. After taking down the incoming forces, John will head towards the mansion and spot Allende escaping through the back in his stagecoach with Bill Williamson.
After pursuing them and killing the soldiers escorting them, Allende tries to deal his way out of this by offering Bill for his life. This is the point where John will take out Bill Williamson while Allende will be shot by Reyes. After completing the mission, John bids farewell to Reyes and heads toward his home in Blackwater (Great Plains).
This finally opens up the West Elizabeth region, allowing players to get to the Tall Trees area inRed Dead Redemption. Here, players will be able to complete the final series ofstory missions before reaching the game’s climax.
