The Four Horses Challenge inRed Dead Redemption Undead Nightmaresuits its name quite well—it is pretty challenging to complete. It’s not difficult per se, but it is a bit tricky in the sense that it can take you hours or no time at all.
The Four Horses Challenge essentially tasks you with finding the Four Horses of the Apocalypse inRDR1 Undead Nightmare. For those unaware of the legend, these are Famine, Pestilence, War, and Death. These creatures are mythical in the game as well, coming in with special powers and stats that will make you want to keep a lookout wherever you travel. If you’re having a tough time, remember thatRDR1 UndeadNightmaredoes have cheatsthat you may use.
However, finding the Four Horses of the Apocalypse is easier said than done, asthey don’t have a particular location that they spawn in.Fortunately, there are some areas where you are statistically bound to find them.
If you wish to complete the Four Horses Challenge inUndead Nightmare, you will need tobe alert and check out a blue-marked area that appears when you’re exploring the map.
Thesepowerful horses inRed Dead Redemptiondon’t have a special spawn location. War, Famine, and Pestilence have their own state that they can be found in, but Death can be caught on any part of the map.
Red Dead Redemption’s Four Horses Challenge has five ranks. They’re not difficult, but they can be rather tedious.
Remember that you don’t get the Horse Deeds (Blood Pacts) until you complete Rank 5. So, even though these steeds have exceptional health, ensure that they don’t die or that you don’t break in another horse. If you do, you will have to use normal mounts again for the time being.
To find War, you will have to explore New Austin. It spawns in random locations all over this state, but here are the places where you will likely see it:
If you ride War inRed Dead Redemption, you can set the Undead on fire when you run through them. They won’t die every time on the first try, though, and you may have to finish them off yourself.
This mythical creature is different fromWar Horse inRDR1. Although the latter is now the default horse you start the game with, it’s quite special in its own right and comes with excellent speed, stamina, and health.
You will need totravel to Mexico inRed Dead RedemptionUndead Nightmareto unlock Famine.Check out the following spots and their surrounding areas first, as it’s likely you will easily get it on your first try:
Famine doesn’t have the offensive power that the other Horses of the Apocalypse have inRed Dead Redemption. As a silver lining,it is the fastest among others, even though the difference isn’t much in the practical sense.
If you want to tame Pestilence, you willhave to explore Tall Treesand the general West Elizabeth area.Like the other horses, its spawn location is pretty random, and you may have to travel a bit before you actually see one. Here are the points of interest that you can look around first:
Taming Pestilence inRDR1 Undead Nightmarebrings a defensive aspect to your arsenal. It has exceptionally high health and is almost impossible to kill, which will help you in the later stages of the game and when clearing towns. Aside from that,it also stuns the Undead on contact. This gives you a few moments of respite to make your escape or take them down first.
Death is generally the final special steed you will tame inRed Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare. When you’re exploring the map, you may find War, Famine, and Pestilence before it.
One aspect that separates it is that it has no specific spawn location, and you’re able to find it anywhere on the game’s map. Keep a lookout while going through the points of interest mentioned for the other steeds, and in general across the campaign. You probably won’t have to struggle for it, which makes it unlike finding theSasquatch inRDR1 Undead Nightmare.
If you don’t find Death, don’t fret. You will automatically get its Blood Pactafter finishing the final mission inRed Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare,“On A Pale Horse.”
