How to Craft a Reinforced Hose in Abiotic Factor
Three Key Materials Needed:
Crafting Reinforced Hoses inAbiotic Factoris not difficult on its own. The real problem comes in locating the primary material required to make it:Steel Cable. If you’ve noticed in the Kitchen on Level 2, you cannot use the stove because it requires a Reinforced Hose. After scouring the entire first three levels of the facility, you’ll realize there are no Reinforced Hoses to be found. Even after you find the basic Hose, the Reinforced Hose will not become available to craft until you find Steel Cable, and you’ll have to wait a while before it can be located.
The three key materials you’ll need to find to craft the Reinforced Hose are:
To craft the Reinforced Hose, you’ll need to use aPowered Crafting Bench.
How to Find a Box of Screws and Hose:
TheHoseandBox of Screwswill be much easier to find than the Steel Cable. You’ll encounter a few of them on Level 3, but you won’t need to worry about collecting them at that point, because there is a much easier way to get them once you reachManufacturing West. Reaching this region will be part of the main story, specifically after you make your way through all three levels of the facility. After you get thecafeteria door open inAbiotic Factor,it’ll be about two or three major mission tasks until you are required to reach Manufacturing West.
Once you reach Manufacturing West, you’ll want to look for the new wooden crates that are marked with yellow and black stripes. Almost every one of these boxes will contain aBox of Screwsand aHose. These boxes are found all throughout Manufacturing West, and are essentially impossible to miss. Use a blunt weapon, such as aTable Leg,to smash open the boxes and loot the materials.
How to Get Steel Cable in Abiotic Factor
Loot or Trade:
Steel Cable is extremely rare inAbiotic Factor’s earlier sections. In fact, it appears that it cannot be found at all until you reachManufacturing West. Currently, there appear to be two methods for acquiring Steel Cable. The first is to get lucky and locate a spool somewhere in Manufacturing. The second method is to trade the Blacksmith.
As of writing, we have only found one spool of Steel Cable in Manufacturing West, but it is said that more can be found through deeper exploration of the area, as well as further into the game. However, if you are looking to repair a Kitchen Stove as quickly as possible, or craft one of the many items that require Steel Cable, then you may need to rely on trading to get more than one spool.
Steel Cable Location 1:
The only location we have found so far is in the rooms that you reach if you follow the hallway to the right of the Blacksmith. To locate the Blacksmith, follow the signs to the Garage in Manufacturing West. Make sure to watch out for armed Terrorists. From the garage, walk out into the long corridor that separates the garage from Shipping. Turn and look into the large chamber at the end of the corridor, and you’ll see a massive sign that saysF.O.R.G.E. –this is where the Blacksmith is located.
If you are standing and facing the Blacksmith, turn right, and you’ll see a door you can enter that leads to a long hallway that leads to a storage room. Inside the room, you’ll find an Exor that will attack you immediately. Take out the Exor, then search the chamber. Inside, you’ll find a single spool of Steel Cable sitting on top of a light green crate.
Trading the Blacksmith for Steel Cable:
When you approach the Blacksmith, you can press Y/Triangle to trade. On the list of items, you’ll see Steel Cable is available. If you have foundMilitary Electronicsalready, you’ll see that it costs one Military Electronics for one Steel Cable. If you have not found that item yet, you’ll only see a questions mark. Luckily, you won’t have to go far to find your first Military Electronics.
In the same chamber where the Steel Cable is located, you’ll see a small green military radio. If you destroy the radio, you’ll get Military Electronics x1. There are several of these radios around Manufacturing West, so you don’t have to worry about trading one if you need Steel Cable.
Military Electronics can also be dropped by terrorists upon death, but it is extremely rare. However, if you run out of radios to smash, it may be your best option.
