Xbox Players May Finally Get More Final Fantasy With an FF16 Port
If the rumors prove true, Xbox fans would finally be able to experience the game’s highly-regarded action combat, for whichSquare Enix enlisted a key game designer from theDevil May Cryseries. With a stronger focus on interchangeable skill trees and fast, reactionary movement,Final Fantasy 16continues the series' ongoing movement away from the turn-based active time battle systems the franchise became known for in its early days.
While Xbox still has the fewest games from the series available out of any other platform,Final Fantasy 14finally made its way to the Xbox Series X earlier this year. Still, players have clamored for more of the series to be released on the platform, as the laudedFinal Fantasy 7 Remakehas yet to receive an Xbox portalong with thePixel Remasterseries.
That being said, the Xbox Series X is still the only modern console wheretheFinal Fantasy 13trilogyis readily playable, and several other PS1-era titles in the series have appeared on it in the past.
