Mimikyu is largely known for its unusual design, which sees it disguise itself in a ghost-like rag that resemblesPokemonseries mascot Pikachu. According to lore, Mimikyu supposedly wears this disguise to protect itself from sunlight, and it is said that anyone unlucky enough to see its true appearance will fall victim to a mysterious and possibly deadly illness.
The dark secret behind Mimikyu’s costume may have finally been uncovered in the already-infamousPokemondata breach, as reported byComicbook.com. Earlier this week, Twitter user CentroLeaks, who has been keeping tabs on the rumors and information brought on by the leaks, shared alleged concept art ofthe ghostlike Pokemon Mimikyu. This includes an illustration of what it supposedly looks like under its disguise, revealing it to be a smaller, ghost-shaped creature that sees through the eyeholes on Mimikyu’s “chest.” Mimikyu’s Pikachu-like tail is also fake, with one image showing both it and the larger disguise being discarded.
Mimikyu’s True Appearance Might Have Been Leaked
As noted before, this is just a small part of the tidal wave of leaks, rumors, and scrapped projects unearthed in the wake of the massive Game Freak data breach. Most recently, thestarters for the upcomingPokemon Legends: Z-Awere reportedly leaked, revealing that players might be able to choose from the three Kalos region starters fromPokemon X and Y. This has left some fans disappointed thatPokemon Legends: Z-Awon’t feature a mix of different generations likePokemon Legends: Arceus.
Of course, everything revealed in the Teraleak should be taken with a grain of salt for the time being, and that includes the recently leaked Mimikyu design. After all, it was taken from what appears to be concept art, meaning that Game Freak might end up using a different design should it ever decide to officiallyreveal what’s hiding under Mimikyu’s trademark disguise. In the meantime, this concept art will likely spawn fanart of Mimikyu’s true appearance, something that has been a mystery amongPokemonfans for a long time.
