Russian Chess Federation’s Response Issues Statement on Poisoning Incident
In light of the situation, the Russian Chess Federation announced that it has placed Amina Abakarova on temporary suspension from all events governed by the Federation. This suspension will remain in effect until law enforcement completes its investigation. The Federation indicated that a final decision regarding Abakarova’s future participation, which could potentially include a lifetime ban, will depend on the investigation’s findings. Additionally, Dagestan’s Minister of Sports, Sazhid Sazhidov, assured the public thatpopular chess playerOsmanova is in stable condition.
